I, as a bassist, thought it would be really cool to learn to play Maxwell Murder. And I did. I ****ing did, guys. I was getting all my gear ready to record, but then I suddenly started hearing NO SOUND coming from my speakers. WTF?!?! I think my stupid soundcard is busted. I don't know when the hell I'll be able to replace it.

So, unfortunately, I won't be able to record this awesome song and solo for you all.

I would have recorded it, but any note played faster than 100bpm is pretentious wanking, and a wanker I am not. It doesn't count as a solo anyways because it lacks some serious groove, which in turn makes it non-musical.

After reading this thread I decided to record the solo... I didn't bother tuning my bass, but since I'm so amazing and have perfect pitch I just adjusted by using neck and string bends as required for pitch correction. I also played it about 50bpm faster than the original as I felt it really helped to reinforce the overall groove of the piece.

As soon as soundclick stops erroring out during upload I'll get my solo posted... Darn internet :p

on a serious note, regardless of what some believe, i do think it's an awesome solo. reason being, when he busts it out it actually lives up to the energy of the song, and it's just as satisfying as a guitar solo would be. i get downright EMBARRASSED when a band is playing a thick and quick song and the bassist takes a "solo" - only to slowly groove along with the drums. tip: you don't continue the "groove" when you solo. just hitting a few lackluster notes that are incredibly boring without accompaniment...no one cares. i HATE when bassists do that. it makes me ashamed to be associated with the instrument.

It's recorded line in though.. no amp. That's why. The only EQ I have is from my onboard pre. Of course, it doesn't help that I play a Schecter.

I do get a bit more colour through my amp, but I have no mic and it's not a great amp anyway so there's not a whole lot of point in trying to incorporate it into my recording setup.
