I never quite understood why if you go to guitar center or sam ash and you want a certain bass they don't have, they tell you to put a down payment and it'll take 3-4 weeks for the bass to come. But if you order it online you get free shipping, no tax, free stuff occasionally, and arrives in 2 weeks tops. that's my experience

No, we're still writing music, but all the effects I use are in GarageBand. Whenever I actually jam with people, I'm pretty much only playing clean, and I can get the tone I want between the EQ on my head and my bass.

Went to the local mom and pop store to check out some stuff.

Squire Vintage Modified Jazz - I didn't like a single thing about this instrument. The neck was torn up from the stock flatwounds, the neck was sticky, the pickups were VERY low output and noisy. and the tone sounded like paper regardless of what I did with it or the amp.

Ibanez Ergodyne - I don't know why I waited so long to try one of these out. Great sound, and VERY comfortable for double thumbing. The distance between the neck and pickup is the same size as my thumb. Great tone, the weight was a big turn off. I don't like to be dragged down by the bass, but I don't want it to float away either.

Ibanez SR400QM - GREAT ****ing bass, beautiful finish, immaculate tone, and obsurd price tag. My favorite feature was the active EQ had a knob labeled "Slap/Finger" which functioned as either a bass push or treble push.

1971 Rickenbacker 12 string electric - Nuff said.

Gibson Kalamazoo Archtop-style acoustic, 1938 - Also, nuff said.

Was the Squier VM a fretless? Jody I think you got a bad one. I have played multiple Squier VM Jazzes and they all have been quiet and the tone has been good, but thats the problem with Squier is the quality control. Its a hit or miss.
