Ultimately, I don't expect anything to happen. This whole situation seems like it's riling people up to protest, but no one will actually go out and protest the Church of Scientologys tactics.

I don't see what the big deal is. The Church of Scientology is really no different than any other church when you think about it. Also, they its not like they are taking over the world. They don't really have that many members. They just get a lot of coverage because of a few select celebrities. This anonymous group is probably just a bunch of bored, sub par computer hackers who do this when there WoW servers are slow.

Maybe not, but right off the top of my head, I can't think of any other religion that will strip you of your property and money to fund your "training," force you to sever communications with your family, or send you to forced labor camps as "rehabilitation" camps.
Not only that, but the Church is so adamant about shutting down any criticising opposition that they will dig and dig and dig to find even the slightest negative flaw in your history to discredit and humiliate you publicly.

I just think idiots should be able to do whatever they want, as long as it doesn't become to widespread. Your description of Scientology sounds a lot like the whole Jim Jones thing. Nobody got pissed about that until it was too late. It was sad don't get me wrong, but a lot of those people, minus the children, probably had it coming for following that nut.
They are chan people.
My point exactly

Beginning in the 1970s, the church began infiltrating the IRS in order to grant a tax exempt status to the Church of Scientology. They were denied the status in 1967.
In order to advance in the church, a heavy investment is required. Not just financially either. Members are told not to associate with family who have not attained a similar level, to the point where even their families are ostracized.
It's not their beliefs that irk me, its their methods.

Much as I'm tempted to agree with you, the type of people that get suckered in by such cults aren't always in a rational state of mind. And even then, it's how difficult the cult makes it for people to leave once they are in.
I'm unwilling to believe that anyone, no matter how stupid, deserves the treatment that the Church of Scientology has been known to show to its members.

lower levels- if you are intelligent and harbor healthy skepticism theyll tell you to make up your own mind, theyd prefer to not to discuss points of contention and just focus on recruiting more people

Everybody knows that the only reason that $cientology exists is because L Ron needed to get the IRS off his back so he created the church of dianetics. The only reason that Scientology is considered a religion is because the IRS says it is. As far as I know, the United States is one of the only countries to accept Scientology as a religion and not something else...like a cult..... If you ask me, it may actually be the government's fault for allowing such a practice to exist.
My opinion is it's now growing more than ever due to the popularity of it among Hollywood celebrities.
I'm very open to other religions, but I have to say that I don't consider this a religion.
