I'm in the market for a new PA, and was hoping some more experienced users could make some suggestions for me.

I require something that is first and foremost dependable, something that will last for several years and is capable of handling travel. My intentions are to use it for live gigs, and for rehearsal. It will be used for lead and backing vocals, which will need to be loud and clear above the rest of the instruments. The possibility of miking the drums would also be nice to have, but this option would not be so often necessary.
The budget is about 800-1000 U.S. dollars. I don't need mics or cables; already have plenty.
Any suggestions would be duely appreciated.

If I've posted in the wrong place, please correct me and direct me elsewhere.

Thanks.

Well, if you intend to use it for gigging, you're probably gonna need a decent sized pair of speakers and a sub. I'd go with powered speakers, probably cheaper in the long run, especially if they include a built in cross over. Behringer makes some decent stuff for fairly cheap in the way of mixers. Check out yorkville speakers, and Behringer gear on musician's friend. For a giggable PA though, I doubt $1000 would cut it, especially if you want to mic drums.
