...Is just about out. Has anyone heard it, and if so, what do you think? So far it's pretty sweet IMO...a little bit more like Arjen's old stuff, but with enough of the newer elements to keep it listenable (I'm not a huge fan of Actual Fantasy/etc because they're a bit too cheesy IMO). Pretty sweet vocal lineup... particularly surprising that Arjen got Jonas from Katatonia, as his voice would not be an immediate thought for this kind of music. It actually works pretty well, though.

Floor Jansen dominates, though. There are a few repeat vocalists that have played with Arjen before including her and Anneke Van Giersbergen (ex Gathering), and a few instrumentalists that Arjen has worked with (Joost, for example). Pretty cool that he went with Lori Linstruth for solos...that woman can play. Also very cool that Michael Romeo is on there as well. Power metal fans will probably go nuts for Hansi Kursh and Tom Englund.

There is a singer on the album who sounds EXACTLY like Phil Lynott. I thought that Arjen had raised him from the dead or something when I heard his voice.

I didn't notice that.

I think it's decent. I can't put it on the same level as The Human Equation which is one of my favorite albums ever, but it's very solid.

I personally would have liked more over the top vocal arrangements like on the last song of Human Equation. stfu pate.

A lot of it has a much more industrial feel, which is cool. There's a few spots here and there where Arjen's songwriting falters (Track 4 especially...blech), but the vocalist lineup is the best he's had yet.

Age of Shadows and Beneath the Waves are better than anything on THE, but the rest of it is pretty mediocre.

im loving it so far. theres a lot of Tangerine Dream style synths going on. THE is still much better.
