Would you guys like an album to have one or two songs that really blow you away and the rest is **** or an album that pretty consistent with good songs but nothing mind blowing

If an album was sh*t except for one or two songs, I'd just download those songs. No need to sit through an album of garbage for a few good tunes.

i buy albums like that all the time because i've usually downloaded one from an artist previously, then i grew to like them a lot and decided to pay them back. turns out i had gotten their best albums for free and only bought the inferior ones.

ex: Television- Adventure, Pixies- Come On Pilgrim, Dino Jr- Beyond, Replacements- Pleased to Meet Me. all albums with "one or two songs that really blow [me] away" and the rest aren't as good.

Nothing irritates me more than albums that have a really great single or two and then end up a suckfest otherwise. I have so much more respect for albums that are consistent because at least then even if I don't like it right away it could potentially grow on me.

I prefer consistent albums. In life i would rather live a life of happiness than one that is lame with one or two ace moments.

albums aren't a metaphor for life you idiot. because all lives are lame with sporadic "good" moments, and since it's impossible to be perpetually happy for an entire life you shouldn't judge albums by that criterion

Well I do. Most times in life are happy for myself but there are people out there that live in misery. And i know some albums are miserable. thats the way i see them. I couldent care less about your opinion on that.

If its single songs your talking about then no it doesnt apply. But albums are collections. Just because one songs good and the rest is crap doesnt make it a good album. you bloody fool.

If I like the album, I buy it. If I don't like the album, then I don't buy it. But normally there isn't an album where I like only a couple songs, tbh.

unless you hear the whole album beforehand, you don't know what's on it,but you'll be surprised at some of the good filler on some albums,of course some are crap too after the hits it's just the luck of the draw.

Sometimes the crap tunes can grow on you though if you have the patience to sit through them. I have a bunch of albums that I thought were garbage save a few good songs, but when I let the whole album run it's course I discovered things I'd missed before and changed my mind.

i usually prefer EP's with 3-5 songs. that cuts out the fillers, and a few songs means that they can spend more time making those epic and rad, without having to focus their attention on like 12 songs at once.

I like an Album to have more good songs and not just a few really good songs... Mainly because I like to listen to an album the whole way through.

eithers a no win, I know its rare to come across an album with nothing but killer songs on it but if this is the case its usually entirely subjective anyway so all music sucks idk

Consistency makes all the difference to me. Although, I often find that repeated listens to albums littered with filler tend to result in a conversion from filler to awesome.
