I like how they all admitted they actually hadn't played the game, and thus had no actual basis on which to found the complaints...

How about they go complain about the fact that I could find pictures of a girl getting it from a dog via Google rather then a side shot of an animated bum.

Yeah, just like I'm sure Hillary Clinton played a lot of GTA: San Andreas a few years back.

Didn't the new Beowulf movie have a basically naked digital Angelina Jolie? Like that wasn't marketed to kids.

I don't get how they say these games are marketed to kids. It's marketed to people who own an xbox. It's rated M, which means most places won't sell it to a minor. This is dumb.

More of Fox News being Fox News and distracting people with fake issues and attractive blond anchors.

It's funny how they claim to know exactly what this game is about from beginning to end yet none of them have actually played the game.

I also agree with the guy on the far right side of the panel who said that at the end of the day it's up to the parents to monitor what games their children play or don't play. If you know a game has questionable content and you don't want your kid to play it then don't buy it or rent it for him/her. If they play it at a friend's house then tough luck, you lost the battle.

When did our standards for televised media become so low that people will actually accept Fox News putting up people to debate on/talk about a topic they have no knowledge or experience with? How is it okay for a person to rant about a videogame on national television and then admit that they have never played it??

It's like putting two people up to debate causes of the Civil War who have never read a history book.

"I swore off and haven't bought video games until this Christmas."

Holy crap, how backwards and ridiculously neo-conservative can FOX possibly get? And I like how they needed a "panel" of 4 people to say absolutely nothing of substance.

"I don't understand why it didn't get an AO rating. What happened to Pac Man and Pong?"

Yeah, lets bring back disco and 10mpg standard cars cause the past is always so much better.

I have to wonder about that statistic. I would think that these days 18-35 year olds (or something like that) are probably the biggest group of gamers out there, if not a close second. Either way they're probably the more heavily involved when it comes to online play and things like that.

I'm glad EA emailed Fox, first good thing they've done in years.

As the parent company of BioWare… EA would like you to set the record straight on a number of errors and misstatements which incorrectly characterize the story and character interactions in Mass Effect.

Your headline above the televised story read: “New videogame shows full digital nudity and sex.” Fact: Mass Effect does not include explicit or frontal nudity. Love scenes in non-interactive sequences include side and profile shots - a vantage frequently used in many prime-time television shows…

FNC voice-over reporter says: “You’ll see full digital nudity and the ability for players to engage in graphic sex.” Fact: Sex scenes in Mass Effect are not graphic. These scenes are very similar to sex sequences frequently seen on network television in prime time.

FNC reporter says: “Critics say Mass Effect is being marketed to kids and teenagers.” Fact: That is flat out false…

Brown also named several of Fox’s own programs for displaying a level of sexuality far beyond Mass Effect’s single, rather tasteful love scene:

Do you watch the Fox Network? Do you watch Family Guy? Have you ever seen The OC? Do you think the sexual situations in Mass Effect are any more graphic than scenes routinely aired on those shows? Do you honestly believe that young people have more exposure to Mass Effect than to those prime time shows?

yeah but its hardly, even by the stretch of the imagination, communist.

Don't be silly. Canada used Communist agents like Dick Cheney to get us to go into a pointless war in Iraq so they could easily charge down from the North and conquer our land.

Yesterday I heard a oh-so-knowledgeable pundit call Hillary a socialist, Edwards a communist, and ascribe America's "greatness" to its "capitalist, free-market system." He then proceeded to compare anti-poverty programs to the Soviet Union.

I banged my head against the wall a couple of times to let off some anger.

I know, seriously.

If you've ever met one of FOX's hardcore fan-base its a very disturbing experience. A few months back I was on base and this old lady with her teenage grandson corners me and like 4 of my buddies at our table while we were eating lunch and just starts going off about pretty much whatever she could think of. Everything from the Clintons, to Jane Fonda, to Iran, to religion, you name it, she said it and wasted a good 45 minutes of our precious joke-and-story-telling time. All the while she kept like praising us for "being in uniform" and crap like that.

One of the most ridiculous things she said was how her entire family had "elected" her to go see The Golden Compass and report back to them whether it was acceptable. Apparently some religious nuts had been saying publicly that it subliminally taught people, especially children, to kill God and whatnot. And to make matters worse, it was based on a book by an atheist (oh no!!!). Their pastor(s) were among this group, so she was to see it and then I guess tell the entire family whether or not they could see it or whatever. But it was obvious from her comments that she'd already condemned it and wouldn't give it a chance even if it was a good movie.

Anyways, after hearing her opinion about that, some movie called "Redacted", and what we should do about Iran, I'm still not sure how I avoided poking my eyes out with my straw. Or getting up and just punching her right in the face like what happens to the lesbian in the beginning of The Boondock Saints.

Anyway, like I was saying, very very disturbing who FOX news actually talks to and how much they are able to influence them.

I dunno, I've never seen it. It was just the narrow-mindedness of her views and the conviction with which she held them that was very troubling. She hadn't even bothered to see it but had already pretty much black-listed it based on what undoubtedly skewed information she'd been fed about it.

Yeah it would technically have been out of line for me to start debating her while I was in uniform, even though me and the other guys I was with really wanted her to shut up.

I didn't hold her or people like her in high-esteem because it was obvious within about 5 minutes that she was a complete moron. It's just really shocking to run into someone like that and in my case I was wondering whether I should pity her more for her ignorance, or despise her for her extremism. Literally all I could think was that people like her are the reason we're still in Iraq and the Patriot Act was passed.

Honestly I had a really hard time restraining myself after listening to her for a few minutes. Especially when she started talking about Iran. I was literally on the verge of saying "You know, I've about 4 sets of desert cammies, maybe you'd like to borrow one and go to Iran yourself since you care so much about it."

she was praising him for being in uniform.
Yeah, and we all were kinda rolling our eyes while she was doing this. She also kept saying something like people who haven't at least been in the military shouldn't be counted when it comes to foreign policy, national security, and the like. Then she kept talking about all of her retired husband's stories and whatnot from Vietnam and so on. Basically it was the "what have YOU done?" kind of thing. I think that all started of with George Soros and the owner of the Dallas Mavericks or something.

God she pissed me off. It's unbelievable that ignorance like that still exists today. That's definitely what hit me the most, I had to keep checking the rest of the day to make sure it was still the 21st century.

That same kind of crap is what I see on FOX all the time and what we saw in this video. It's disgusting.

In the Marine Corps, we aren't allowed to be in cammies or pretty much any uniform off-base unless we're on official business. There's few if any exceptions to this rule.

Haha, yeah well remember we are technically descended from the Royal Marines so what's that say eh? :thumb:

I remember hearing sometime around the beginning of the Iraq War that Iraqi troops or maybe the Republican Guard had been told by their intelligence officers that US Marines had to kill their own mothers as part of their training. The intent of this being to discourage the Iraqis from surrendering and get them to fight. I never found out if that was a joke or whether it was true, but I hope nobody actually believes that.

Seriously though, I don't know why anyone would want to wear their uniform off base and off duty. Most dress uniforms aren't all that comfortable, and digital camo isn't exactly bar attire. Sometimes when I see Army folks wearing theirs around town I think it's kinda funny.

i know that the marines (US) will wear their dress uniform when they get back from combat service. i don't know if its the same for the British marines. im not sure about the US army either, i know my dad didn't do it when he got back from desert storm in 91.
