These were finally announced. A list can be viewed here:

I really, really like what they've chosen this year for Best Picture nominations. More so than any other year I can remember. My pick would definitely be Michael Clayton, but There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men are definitely awesome choices as well and deserve to win.
I have yet to see Atonement but I'm saving it for this weekend. I've warmed up to Juno recently but I still don't think its worthy of a nod at the Oscars, but I won't complain. I would have liked to have seen at least The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford or Zodiac make the list, but that's not altogether too realistic considering the small critical acclaim both got in lieu of the others.
Directors are awesome across the board (great to see The Diving Bell and the Butterfly get a few nods here and in Adapted Screenplay). Same with Lead and Supporting Actresses and Actors. Out of the categories listed, the only one that is wtf? is Best Animated Feature that has Surf's Up. At least Persepolis and Ratatouille are both in there.
So what's everyone's thoughts? Pretty good year, I say.

Eastern Promises is the most under rated movie of the year, it hasn't been nominated for anything anywhere :\

Eastern Promises is great, but it's nothing outstanding. It deserves the spot over Juno, but so do many other films.

Its unfortunate that Zodiac didnt get nominated for anything.
I'm also disappointed that Eastern Promises and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford weren't nominated for Best Score.
oh yea and juno??
Other than that, it seems like a pretty good year.

Wow...Amy Adams, Ryan Gosling, and the guy for Into the Wild really should've been nominated. Seems like a bit of ageism.

Gone Baby Gone
wtf, I thought she was okay but Oscar worthy?
The only person I want to win is Javier Bardem as he was excellent.

I know that some have found fault with the film itself, but I don't see how anyone could fault Hirsch's performance. It was great.

I think it looks a pretty good list overall though I haven't actually seen many films from this year. It's a shame Zodiac wasn't nominated for anything but it seems films released earlier in the year are at a disadvantage when it comes to the oscars.
I'm hoping No Country sweeps it (haven't seen TWBB yet so my opinion could change)
Atonement was decent, better than I was expecting but not really oscar worthy imo.

Yeah, Zodiac was an outstanding film and it it had been released late in the year, it probably would've been up for more awards.

Shame that the Belgian film that was sent in for the foreign language award wasn't nominated. :(
Also, most of these films aren't out yet here. :\

No Country For Old Men and Juno are the only two there that I like.

I've only seen The Savages and Juno of the main contenders. I preferred Juno.
Problem with the Academy Awards is that they always pick movies that come out later in the year. Especially recently, its been movies that have come out in the last two months. Really sucks.

Same
I was p*ssed when I saw that 3 songs from the same movie were nominated for the best original song.....that's just retarded. And then the fact that Shakira's Golden Globe nomination in that category didn't carry over hurt as well :(
Whatever, Oscars are pretty lame and boring....just hope Ellen Page (Juno) and No Country For Old Men get some glory...

Jennifer Garner was better than Ellen Page. And Michael Clayton ffs.
