It definitely won't affect Dark Knight. They're done filming with that. Hard to believe thats the last of his career though.
If this effects The Dark Knight I'm gonna be pissed.
As insensitive as this might sound, it might boost the sales. This was his last film after all.
Hopefully we'll get some details about it soon, but still, what are you supposed to say about this?

if he was just a person we wouldn't even be talking about him or a meaningless death
he was an actor, and a celebrity so I don't understand why you are whining about people talking about his movies
you should be grateful there are hardly any jokes or cruel comments in this thread that might hurt your poor bleeding heart
I am sympathetic, but honestly I didn't watch any of his movies (That will change when TDK comes out though), so what do you want me to do? I'm sad that it happened, but I can't talk about how much I loved his work or anything.

Now this is the Zakath I remember!
Anyway, IF the drugs turn out to be true I'll have trouble having sympathy for him. If it is the case then it was his own stupidity that got him killed, I feel more sorry for his family.
Anyway, considering the filming of TDK is done, I hardly think it'll effect the movie at all, they'll probably just tag on a "In Memory" at the end.

Hmm, rumors are that playing the Joker ****ed with his head/sleeping patterns so much that he got little to no sleep while filming. OD'd on sleeping pills trying to get back to normal, messed up.
More importantly is how will this effect the 3rd Batman movie.

01-22-2008, 05:06 PM
either recast the part or set it up so that he is killed in the passage between the two films
or that he disappears and comes back later older?

I was thinking that too. Of course a third movie will be made, that's how hollywood works. But seeing how Christopher Nolan was already hesitant to keep going with the franchise, I think this'll in part mean that he won't go a long with the third one...

From IMDB Trivia:
"The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result."

No, he's no more important than some other random person who happens to die but if I care at all it's going to be for Ledger because I obviously know more about him than said random person.

27 American soldiers have died so far in 2008.
But about Heath Ledger. I think his role as the Joker really messed him up. I heard he really got into it, and in this article I read he said in an interview that he was only getting like 2 hours of sleep a night at one point and that 2 Ambien only put him to sleep for an hour. Since he was found with sleeping pills next to his bed, I'm gonna say accidental overdose.

Some overdoses are accidental. Especially with sleeping pills. Your body builds up a tolerance to them over time and eventually it's a given that you are going to take too much trying to achieve a normal effect and end up injured or dead.

Stress and lack of sleep?
How about struggling to pay rent every month and feeding yourself while trying hard to get promoted to a full-time position at your job (working part-time at TWO JOBS at just under 40 hours at each) so that you can go back to school and get your degree, and doing all of that without a car, no health insurance, no dental insurance, nobody to fall back on financially, and oh ... working 7 days a week.

If he had been drinking that too can cause death when taken with sleeping pills whose active chemical is a benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepine increase the effectiveness of GABA (neurotransmitter) while alcohol mimics GABA. In combination, they can cause either coma's or death. So there's a good chance he might have been drinking too and took some sleeping pills.

ledger was a good actor. favorite young actor of mine. enjoyed his work and really did like Brokeback Mountain. it was the best film of that year imho.
can't help but speculate on his death. natural causes would seem out in someone so young with no known medical issues. "accidental overdose?" i suppose that means an amount enough to kill you, but perhaps barely enough? or maybe just lack of suicide motive or suicide "scene" where he died? whatever the case i really don't know what an "accidental overdose" is. i always thought its when a junkie takes too much heroin....you know, by "accident." w/e
i think it was suicide or a toxic mix. perhaps taking one thing because another didn't work. and then bam....fatal cocktail. we'll see later i guess.

He had prescription ones as well. But reports confirmed that there werent pills and bottles scattered about as initially reported.
I'm don't particularly care about his death from an "i'm sad let's mourn" POV, but I do think it hasnt been handled very well. I mean, did you hear what happened when they were removing his body? There were people with ****ing camera phones snapping it going to the morgue.
I'm more interested in how it happened and if there's even the slightest chance that his Joker role played into it (shut up if this sounds ridiculous :()
But they're saying now he had pneumonia. Pneumonia plus the wrong mix of sleeping pills probably doesn't bode well.

First seven pages of the Sun today dedicated to Ledger. They make him out to be a heroin addict, with deep troubles, who committed suicide, which is a joke.
New York's chief medical examiner will need at least a further 10 days to determine the cause of Heath Ledger's death and accurately detect what drugs were in his body at the time of death.
They make all that stuff up anyway, so what difference does it make.
You didn't think they really have a method to determine what drugs were in his system at the time of death, did you? It's all made up, but since this guy has a medical badge, people believe what he says.

Apparently his autopsy was inconclusive, as will Batman.
I say suicide.
Why is everyone backing up Heath Ledger saying it was an accident?
What's so wrong with saying that the guy felt his 'issues' were too much to cope without the use of drugs and he found himself in a bad habit that eventually killed him?
It may not be the 'all-out-gun-ho' kind of suicide where he ingests an entire bottle of pills in effort to KILL himself, but it IS the fact that he became reliant on a potentially dangerous drug and used it irresponsibly.
As a father, and a father alone (ignoring his celebrity status, financial standing, etc), he should have been smarter and more 'responsible' with his 'medical condition'.
It sucks that he died, but I still stand by what I have been saying; that being, "he's a moron".
