Now seriously, I know the Dawn remake was good, but that had a director that was actually competent.

This looks like it's really going to suck.

I'm sorry but I can't see this being good.

there's always room for improvement to a bad original so well okay

There sure is a lot of night time in there. Also some zombie movement that reminded me of House of the Dead which saddens me more than seeing a bag of puppies thrown in a lake. Of course, the unforgivable act of putting Nick Cannon in any role save Horrifically Mutilated Extra #2.

Another worrisome aspect is I've heard they made Bub a vegetarian, and that's why he won't eat people. :(

This film could make me cry.

i don't think that happens ever, or ever has.

there have been better remakes of good originals but i can't remember a single terrible movie that was ever remade into something better.

this is old news.

and like someone said, day of the dead sucked anyways. and besides, there's already day of the dead 2 to ruin its name so who cares at this point.

Day of the Dead didn't suck.

Out of Romero's zombie flicks I've only seen Dawn and Day, but I think Day was my favorite.

"you see a black man with a sharp stick and its a spear?"
"Why do white people always want to split up?"

I laughed at those both, but not in a good way.

It was more of an "omg I can't believe they put that lame attempt at humor in a horror film this is definitely going to suck horribly"

No but I usually avoid most recent horror films and trailers, and don't go to theaters that often.

For some reason I thought this was being done by Zack Snyder, and since the Dawn remake was good I assumed this would be too, if this was done by him.

I'm talking about all acknowledged plain-old-bad movies. I don't think a single terrible film has been remade into a widely acknowledged better movie in the history of film. Day of the Dead was a horribly overacted piece of gooey, barely-held-together tripe even by Romero's campy standards. It's a big low point for such a classic franchise. This remake serves absolutely no purpose except to cash in on the release of Romero's fifth film.

The remakes of the films you mentioned were all good (although I still like the original Dawn of the Dead more), but all were remakes of films which were acknowledged classics of the sci-fi/horror genre. The original Fly hasn't aged particularly well but it's a classic. The Thing was a remake of a movie which was terrifying and awesome in its day and even still today for some people, and which lent much of its inspiration to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, itself a classic that has been remade both very effectively (1977, in my opinion a rare example of a superior remake) and very poorly (1993, 2007). The general trend with remakes is that they tend to suck, and also tend to be pointless, generally because the films that inspire them are always better. This remake is doubly pointless because the original already sucked without any help from a sucky remake.

Day of the Dead was the best in the series.

and the remake of The Thing is one of the greatest films ever.

the original Fly was also awesome

Night of the Living Dead was Romero's first. Then Dawn then Day. My friend saw the Day remake somehow and he said it is TERRIBLE.

He probably saw Day of the Dead 2. I think this has been recut a dozen times to get it released but people finally just decided it was **** so they're doing straight to dvd.
