two films that i'm trying to remember the titles/plots of

there are two films i can remember scenes/ideas from but fail to remember the films themselves.

in the one film, at some stage the characters view a videotape of a naked woman lying on the floor of a kitchen (i think), with a plastic bag over her head, dying by suffocation.

in the other film, some mad scientist/inventor type discovers that the last thing a person sees before they die is burnt into their retinae, and that by shining a light from behind the retinae, he can project that image onto a wall.

anyone know either of these two films? it's driving me mad, and it's pretty tough to google this kind of thing.

william h macy, i don't even remember that there was such a film as the life of david gale. wyrd.

anyway yeah i remember a lot of stuff from wild wild west, just failed to recall that the head thing was also from that film. no wonder i kept thinking "steampunk". www was fun. utter crap, but fun.
