Twin snakes is my fave
when i was younger metal gear was always such a cool game
the way you could hide in a box
the way when you were outside in the cold snake would catch a cold and sneeze, which could give you away
the way you could use cigarette smoke to see if there was an alarm

and best of all, psycho mantis
when the game temporarily stopped and all it said on the screen was 'HIDEO'. Terrifying, but so cool.

Great series of games, it's always hard for me to choose between the original and Twin Snakes as my favorite.
Twin Snakes was just so brilliantly done and had such a perfect ending, I think it is my favorite, but still a very tough decision.

What do you mean Twin Snakes had a brilliant ending?
It's the same as the Playstation original, unless by original you meant the way old games?

I used to play the first one all the time.

this is true. twin snakes was the first metal gear solid for the next gen (at the time)

Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty was out for the PS2 before Twin Snakes on the Gamecube, actually.

But yeah, I don't get why he thought a remake had the better ending, they were the same, except the playstation version had better music, and an awesome video of Alaskan nature and animals at the end with The Best Is Yet to Come playing over it, extremely awesome, and cruelly left out of the remake.

The ending to twin snakes was awesome.
i think the only difference between metal gear for the PSone and twin snakes is that, in twin snakes you can go into first person view.
that and improved graphics etc.
metal gear 2 was pretty good too, but i didn't like that raven/raiden guy. whatever he;s called

Twin Snakes remains better now because of the updated graphics, it's a little sluggish to play the original these days, especially without being able to shoot in first person view, or roll.

But the original had much better music, and the dialog was changed a tad, and Greyfox's voice was changed, which is a damn shame, it made the Greyfox scene with Metal Gear so much less emotional than in the original.

Metal Gear 2 is far too under-rated for my liking among fans. So many years later and it still looks and plays great, it was a mind-blowing game at the time, the story was just a little weird, it didn't live up to MGS1

I don't remember much about the original. I only had a demo of it, which went up to when the DARPA chief died.
MGS4 is the only game that i'm jealous of PS3 owners for. It looks immense

I just hope I can afford a PS3 in time for its release, you may be able to tell I have a slight fixation with the series :)

hell yeah man mee too, ive loved like all the games and im soo stoked for the new one to come out i just dont have a ps3, the only problem is, that would be the sole reason i would buy one. i dont have any interest in anything else the ps3 has to offer.

if MGS4 came to 360, PS3 would be struggling way more than it is already.

**** I meant Snake Eater but for some reason Twin Snakes was the title that was on my mind.

Well in that case I agree. Snake Eater's ending was magical. :)

snake eater was so sad at the end :( when they were explaining the boss's story and stuff.

i'm so glad whiny raiden is gone

"OH GOD I DON'T EVEN WANT TO BE HERE"

edit - i'm watching the death scenes of the main bosses on youtube. sniper wolf's is so sad. :( i love these games, such great storytelling.

edit edit - oh god, watching the mantis one right now. heartrending.

Twin snakes was great apart from the fact they left out all the original music from the psone game. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

MGS3 is probably the best game I have ever played in my life. I've played through it 7 times.

It sucks that they never got the bosses so rooted in story done right ever again. The Bosses in MGS1 were absolutely fantastic characters, each with a great backstory, and you did feel it when you killed them. The bosses since have mostly sucked.

I thought Vamp was done pretty well.

hell yes! sick boss and sick character

and i agree with whoever said the ending to snake eater was magical. but like someone else said, it was very very sad. i thought it was one of the more powerful endings ive seen in a video game, like ever. props to kojima yet again

This is why I have no objection to a MGS movie.

I think If they did a movie, it would really have to be directed and written by kojima. It might even be best left as a videogame

I would love to see a well-done MGS came, but unless they can make it just as good as the videogames they just need to leave it alone.

That's what I believe as well tbh. They'd need the right actors to pull it off too. Top-notch, nothing else IMO.

Uhm, gice. They are doing a MGS movie, with Kojima writing and directing.

The rumours are that he's considering Christian Bale for Snake. Welcome to last years old news!
