My band is in the studio right now, we're working on our album. I'm engineering and producing. I've posted some demo mixes (really basic, static mixes). Just looking for some feedback, and even any mixing ideas any of you might have. I will be mixing these again in the next few weeks.

Wow, im glad i stumbled onto this. You guys remind me of Blind Melon, which is a good thing. The singing sounds great. very impressive vocals. the guitar mix seems fine to me. though i would maybe up the guitar in "Pastures" from 2:40 to 3:30. the drums sound perfect for what your doing. My only major suggestion would be to put more bass into the mix. maybe its my crappy speakers but i can't hear any bass guitar for any of the tracks.

Some of the best music i've heard on mx. nice job. Biggs and Wedge is your best song.

First of all, someone needs to fix the image link on your myspace page. I was trying to read about your band, but I couldn't make out anything. :smash:

Secondly, I really dig the tunes. Are you just engineering/producing, or do you play an instrument in the band as well? Regardless, I love the laid back slightly funky style and everything's played sharply from what I can hear. I'd definitely be interested in buying the album when it's done.

Thirdly, on to the mixing: I think it's pretty good. Unfortunately, I'm listening through a cheap set of 2.1 computer speakers right now, so I don't have a great reference. However, it all sounds as clear and well balanced as anything I've heard out of this **** setup before. Everything is pretty crisp and I can hear definition in all the instruments. I would say that the production is pretty dry, but I guess that's forgivable and maybe even desirable for this type of music (after all, it's not like you guys are playing shoegazer-style arena rock). Nothing's too boomy on the bass side and it doesn't lack punch. Also, I didn't have any trouble hearing the bass guitar or kick drum, but like I said, I'm listening through a (shitty) 2.1 speaker system.

My only real complaint would be with the guitar tracks. The tone is great for this type of music, but I would have the guitar player lay down another track or two on top of what you've got just to thicken it up a bit. Like I said, I know you probably don't want an overproduced sound for this type of music, but it just sounds a little thin to me. But whatever...overall, great job so far.

Yeah, I also noticed the issue with the guitars, it was just way too thin, especially in the choruses of songs. We threw 2 or 3 more guitar tracks on everything, just so I could fatten it up in mixdown. I play drums and engineer/produce by the way. The reason it is so dry is because i spent about an hour and a half mixing everything, just so we'd have a demo to sell at a big show we played on New Years. But I am re mixing everything in the next two weeks. We've added alot of cool stuff. Some 12 string guitar and some Leslie speaker in places. Thanks for the compliments.
