What, if any, is the meaning of existence? I have a feeling that the majority of this board, given with the general leaning, will argue the existentialist or absurdist arguments that an individual determines his/her own meaning. Not everyone can be Sisyphus, though.
The question of existence will almost undoubtedly also give rise to questions of free will and the basis of morality. Does free will exist and where does morality come from?

ooo free will, I think for the most part our thoughts are free, but our actions are not. Tbh, free-will is a topic I don't have much a definite stance on.
Morality is, imo, conceptual. Its is conceived as way for man to live in society in harmony with others. I also believe that is very subjective and should not be enforced by law.

I read the first line.
My answer based on that is.
**** that ****, I exist and I rather like it that way. So why the **** bother trying to come up with answers? Enjoy it, at least you're not a pile of donkey **** in Mexico which has no idea that its got the shittiest (pun intended) "job" of them all.
Edit: Now after reading the reast of the post, I'm an Existentialist, which is more or less evident by my reply.

I'm not trying to be intellectual, I just find it interesting and thought other people might. I don't claim to have a solid answer.

We exist due to the malevolence of an arch demon that commanded slime to be sentient in order that they would be amused by their creations beig self-tormented by existentialist questions. The meaning of existence is therefore to destroy the evil power.

i don't think it can possiby be answered...athough it is a ton of fun to dissect. maybe people try and look into it too much. after our creation, it seems we have altered our own existence in certain ways
guitrguy

well the basis of existentialism is the fact the man existed before his essence. Meaning that the our creation is not a the product an intelligent being. Since there is no intelligent creator it is up to man to define himself.

If you want to know your meaning in a biological sense then it's to ensure the survival of your genes. This doesn't really say anything about the value of life but hey there's nothing to really suggest that there is value in life.
The best book on all of this is, imo, hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. It's a brilliant parody showing the futility of the question, and how we don't fully understand what we're really asking for anyway. At least, that's my take on it. Well, Douglas Adams' take which I've adopted. Oh, how easily influenced by comedy...

It's more to ensure the survival of our species, not necessarily our (meaning the individual's) genes.
But i really shouldn't have started this thread. oof.
smokey, close.
