1. Bastards of Young
2. Favorite Thing
3. Can't Hardly Wait
4. I Will Dare
5. Sixteen Blue
Man this is pretty hard, I want to put Alex Chilton, Hold My Life, Left of the Dial, Little Mascara, and any other closing track (Answering Machine, HCAR) as well. Glad Nacho and sr800 are with me on the Favorite Thing love, it often gets overlooked.
Westerberg is one of the best lyricists ever, I think.

It could have totally been one of those "misinterpreted for commercial gain" songs like Born in the U.S.A. or Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)
also everyone should read the article linked in the first post. very informative!

Picking 5 favourites is difficult but I'll give it a shot...
Bastards of Young
Alex Chilton
The Ledge
I Will Dare
Talent Show
A lot of good ones had to be left out there and if I did it again tomorrow it would probably change.
I agree with YDload, good article.

There's a band from somewhere called Bastards of Young. The sad thing is that they're probably awful.

I couldn't pick just 5. I listen to Tim, Let it Be and Pleased to Meet Me all the time still to this day, and I loved them when they came out. I remember buying Pleased to Meet Me on cassette from one of the first Tower Records to open in NYC when the album came out.
These guys were amazing. Westerberg is amazing. I saw him live once in all his drunken splendor. He's like the Paul Weller of the US. Maybe that's inaccurate..
