Dialect Pejoration

Are you biased against some people based on their dialects? Eg when you hear someone with a thick southern accent, do you think, "stupid hillbilly"?

Usually someone with an understandable but still strong South Accent is fine, but if they're like *South Accent* "They are in a tub over there my friend brandeen thinks I look like Lynard Skynard!" */South Accent* I'm obviously not going to think much of the person.

I am biased against people in the service industry with accents, just because I feel like a complete asshole saying "What?" to everything. That goes for people with speech impediments as well.

Oh, and I assume that if you have a british accent and you're 14-30 that you go to pubs all the time and you aren't particularly bright (dumb to average). But if you're old and british you're automatically very credible. If you're a chick and british then you're hot and stupid.

Basically, yeah, I use dialects as an easy way to imprint whatever stereotypes there are based on that particular ethnic/cultural group and what not.

Stereotypes are stereotypes because they aren't always (or usually) true. Otherwise they'd just be fact.
Just a basis for judgment before you actually know the person.

I don't, but a lot of people have done it to me. I have an Irish accent but was born and raised in the U.S. (Family is from Ireland, one from Scotland), so I'm around presumptive ignorance a lot.

I think studies have demonstrated that most people are biased, even very subtly, against certain accents, especially those outside of their daily experience. In New York, if two equally skilled candidates go for a job but one has a Kentucky drawl and the other a neutral or northeastern accent, I bet the second one gets picked more often.

Not many, if any. You get a few ethnic accents, and some people have particularly strong accents, but it's not really an indicator of class or money or anything.
