anyone know what you would need to produce a live show with a midi controller?

depends on the genre you want to do.

minimally, you would need said midi controller and a laptop (1.8GHz dualcore, 2GB RAM), a midi interface if your midi controller isn't usb/firewire-enabled, and an audio interface. you would need some kind of monitoring; if it is a solo electronic act you want to do, then you'd need headphones. you'd also need software, but again this massively depends on what style of music you want to do.

or you could use the midi controller, a synth module and headphones.
