Okay, It's been a while since I've tried writing a directly personal kind of song so I gave it a fresh try this evening (doused in a comfortable amount of irony). Tell me what you think.
We’re on a mighty fine line
Grimly inspecting its faults
Cause they’ve been chewing my problems
They’ll have to swallow the end result
Keep your mind where it is safe
Get it out of the car
They talk when they are nervous
I talk when I’m allowed
And all anyone can say
I guess its one of those days
How can you run…but then how can you stay?
Another drink
It makes me mad, I think
Another drink
It makes me mad, I think
And all anyone can say
I guess it’s just a bad phase
How can you run…but then how can you stay?
We’re on a mighty slim earth
Its tiny fault lines are clear
Like withered veins surfacing
For a last gulp of air
Keep your mind where it is wanted
Get it out of our view
The very ground doesn’t want you
And the ocean is full
Would you like another drink?
It would mean so much to me
Would you like another drink?
It would mean so much to me
It’s more than anyone can bear
It’s just some general despair
How can you complain…but then how can you care?
We’re on a mighty fine line
Grimly inspecting its faults
Cause they’ve been chewing my problems
They’ll have to swallow the end result
Keep your mind where it is safe
Get it out of the car
They talk when they are nervous
I talk when I’m allowed
And all anyone can say
I guess its one of those days
How can you run…but then how can you stay?
Another drink
It makes me mad, I think
Another drink
It makes me mad, I think
And all anyone can say
I guess it’s just a bad phase
How can you run…but then how can you stay?
We’re on a mighty slim earth
Its tiny fault lines are clear
