I always wanted a hofner beatle bass but I don't play bass nearly as much as I play the guitar. I have little experience with lutherie so I was wondering if it was possible to convert a beatle bass to a guitar. Since most violin basses are 31" scale, specifically the rogue which i had my eye on, it would probably have to be a baritone guitar if this is even possible. Any advice or experience with such a project would be appreciated.

Never done anything like that, but it sounds like a feasible project and maybe would be cool. First concern is do you need to replace the pups and what will fit properly. Second is the bridge and tuning machine system will take some thought.
Getting strings / adapting to the scale length shouldn't be a problem.

the headstock and/or neck may have to be replaced to accomodate new tuners though, right? As far as the bridge goes, the trapeze has a screw-on stop piece and the intonation saddles are on a floating bidge. I just dont know how......

it might be cheaper but i do not know how to build anything, let alone a hollowbody. Also, the rogue is only about two hundred bucks.

^^ good point, it's important to ask what scales you'll be using!

Haha. Scales.
But they are right, I suppose. The frets that are on the bass now would not cut it... which would probably be the hardest thing to do. It'd probably be easier trying to put a new neck on it rather than defretting, filling in, and refretting the neck.
But I'm not a luthier, I just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.
