Be nice and try to work through and change style.
If you got a band lined up you should feel lucky. Its hard to find good musicians around here that like my style.
Just talk to them, it either will work that way or not.
But at least you tried.

Leave if you don't like it.

That's hard for someone else besides you to call that one, but me personally I've yet to find someone I didn't enjoy playing with simply because I'm drumming no matter what. It doesn't really matter if I'm playing with a shredding metal playing guitarists or a funk-loving bassist, I'm going to enjoy it either way because I'm playing the drums. I would try and look at it from that perspective. At least you are playing music.
I'd say stick with it and try to work something out. Let him know what you do and don't like about his playing, but don't expect him to change everything to the way you want it. You probably wouldn't want a guitarist telling you how to play every note exactly either.

Think of yourself like a studio drummer, do it because it could take you somewhere.

He plays metal, just... boring metal I guess. Like bury your dead and that crap. Stupid breakdowns, blah. Just generic new metal. After playing with my last band which I really enjoyed the music (still metal), I feel like I'm going backwards playing with him.
@TravisBarkerrules: cept, it's probably not gonna go anywhere.
some other stuff I might add later, but I don't feel like typing now.
lol thats like my fav band =(

I would stick with it until you get a better offer. Slowly brainwash him to do things you like.

Here's a solution; Berk can join the band.

First, let him know how you feel. Second, provide constructive criticism. Third, steal his food then leave.

Tell him wassup man. Otherwise its obviously not going to work out in the end. Craigslist is a powerful tool
