hey guys. Most of you know that I have a 2nd bass drum that I picked up for a great bargain. Its a Yamaha. The problem is, I removed the wrap easily. But The glue didnt come off at ALL when I peeled it. So all thats left is a silver paint (?) and really thick glue. Sanding for hours only removes a good foot of glue.

Is there any special ways that I can get it done quicker but still be safe?

You might wanna check out electric sanders; if you have a good amount of hand control.

I have 2 sanders actually. And using both with 2 people takes a long time. We barely got the top of the drum done in an hour. I need something that can either make the glue easier to come off or something that will thin the glue out.

Maybe if you melted it slighty with a hair dryer you could peel some of it off? Dunno though.

That was actually the first thing I tried but the glue is so thick that I would need to hold the heat on the shell/glue for quite some time for it to melt which would warp the shell.

I dunno. If I cant figure this out, then im going to browse through a Rockin' Wrap catalog and see what I like cause I lost hope. haha.

Go to a real paint store, not the section at Home Depot, and get this paint remover called Star 10. I use it when I redo furnature..it is great and will not hurt shell.

yeah, some sort of solvent. I didn't need any for my tamas, they had shitty glue jobs, just one stripe on the shell.
