Easy MX...

Dropping by again with another video i put together recently.

For our final major project at college we had to organise and perform a gig by ourselves.

As everything had to be recorded audiably and visually; we had several camera angles and a multi-track recording of the whole gig.

I only have little bits of video but the whole multi-track recording so i just did a bit of mixing and slapped the video on top.

It was a wicked gig and got me a very good grade for my course.

Cheers for watching and have a wicked new year everyone!

It's a Fender Toranado, Very nice guitar :)

I would have just said the vocals weren't stunning, but everything otherwise was wicked

RATM's vocals are hard to do, but your singer did a pretty good job. I really liked that. Drumming was solid and the mix was great.

And phil...idk i could be wrong but it kinda looks like a guitar?

Yer, props to him 'cus i couldnt sing it. But if he remembered the words it could have been a bit better :thumb:

Cheers about the mention of the mix, all done by me!

Easy pete,

The singer is a really funny guy, he loves being on stage but can't sing/play guitar to save his life. He roars a lot aswell (see end of video)

I can't wait for rage to play in the UK, wherever it is, i'l be there!

Do you go to drum tech?

Nice cover btw.

I wish i did, but nah i don't. I have appplied before in the past, went for an interview and nerves just got the better of me.

Quite difficult to get into is drumtech let me tell you...

Panopticon

nah i didnt get anything i needed for x-mas.

My mic setup so far is as follows:

Audix D6 on the kick
SM57 on the snare
Audix D2 on 8/10/12/14
Audix D4 on 16/18 (one is coming and i still have to buy another)
Audio Technica AT2020's as over heads

I still need to get a firepod or two (damn having a big kit:() but once i do that i'll be able to tell if i need hat/roto mics. If i do, i'll be picking up 2 SM57's for the rotos and im not sure what to get for hats (maybe AKG C1000's)

I'l put up a recording, and i didn't use one in it.

Mostly, I find that i don't normally need a hi-hat mic.
Of course having one is beneficial, but you're on a budget.

And the c1000's don't sound too hot IMO

that was phat man. Only thing i didnt like was the snare sound. I like a tighter sound with more crack but it worked great in the context. Great playing, and mixing.

Oh, its not me playing...

Im just recording their EP for them.

Cheers man, im quite proud of the way that track came out.
The band leader and front-man is quite the idea man.

The backing vocal was recorded in the weirdest way imaginable!
We put a 57 behind a pop shield in front of his mouth; and a large diaphragm condenser facing a baking tray cellotaped to a kitchen cabinet on the otherside of the room, facing away from the singer.

Was funny when his older brother turned up and we were recording a baking tray...

Phil, I already said, it's a Fender Toranado

http://promusicianschoice.com/fender/toronado.jpg

My mate has one, they're pretty nice guitars!!

I was being all nice Austin, Just a tiny bit less nice about the vocals. But, I'm a really big rage fan so, anything less than Zac de la Rocha doesn't do it for me as much. Even when chris cornell did some rage tunes with audioslave, the vocals were HORRIBLE compared to those of Mr le Rocha

I also hope they come to the UK :)

Your band is great, but IMHO better to play with no singer and have people focus on the wicked tunes than have a singer detract from the performance..

Not trying to be mean, but it sounded like karaoke sundays.

You're right loyton.

He's only singing on that song beause we all needed 20mins performance time and he was a few mins short.

Most of our set was with no singer :)
