Hey guys, wondering which pedal to get, ive got around £250 to spend on one. Main ideas have been a Pearl Eliminator, Iron Cobra or DW 5000 accelerator/turbo. What do you reckon?

^that
I have friends who love eliminators,I can't stand them.
I love IC's and 5K's,but some people hate them, and i'd rather play my PDP than an eliminator.
So...
yeah.
Guitar Center/Music-go-round/Local music store, and try them out.

I'm going to say Iron Cobras, but that's only cause they're my personal favourite of the top-of-the-line pedals.

For you, though, yeah... just try em out.

Well you have to test them. Out of those i'd say eliminator but i'd really reccomend you look into Yamaha Flying Dragons too.

I own one and its stunning :)

Only saying this because I have used them. 5Ks! Iron Cobras follow insanely close as that is what my teacher uses. Never tried the FD's or elims. Also look at the big dog pedal. will save you some money! And then you can get more MORE MORE!

Wow, really? I would of thought they'd use their own currency. What about Ghana?

Drum Phil
12-26-2007, 02:04 PM
A few of them are british colonies. I only did a quick search so theres probably more.

Not to mention islands like the Isle Of Man.

Some of them are Pound Sterling, the others are stuff like Cyprus Pound.

Ghana uses the Ghanian Cedi (GHC)

No, it's called asking for help.

And no its not the stupidest thread at all. It's perfectly reasonable that he's asking us for help because he probably does not know the difference between the pedals. Not everybody has had a chance to play on different pedals.

To Adam, there's no such thing as a "best" pedal, because all the pedals differ by a lot, ie. the feel of the pedal. If possible, your best bet would be to try them all out and get one you like.

What I did was to hunt for 2nd hand pedals online, get the cheaper ones and try them. If I didn't like them, I'd trade them with others for other pedals, or sell them and resume my hunting. :p But I wouldn't recommend it unless you're ready to make a slight loss each time you sell and buy a new pair of double pedals.

yeah, it's just like everyone's saying. i have a Pulse double pedal, which a lot of people would say sucks compared to pedals such as the Iron Cobra, But i prefer the pulse over the iron cobra.

so really, its all up to you, go give 'em all a try.
:D
but it's not like you haven't heard that enough already

I was faced with the same dilemma andwent with the Eliminators. I didn't know what I would want in a pedal so I figured the most adjustable would be the way to go.

I don't regret that decision at all. I'm still experimenting with what I like and making adjustments on the pedal all the time.

Yeah Pearl make great gear. I would still say try em all out before you buy.

Or buy a single Ludwig Speed King :D

:D

In all seriousness though, you really should just check out the pedals at stores and fiddle with them to see which you like best. Pedals are like feet...if you dont like the way your feet feel you're gonna have a hard time walking....

I cant believe I just said that...

you may want to check out the new 8k's. apparently they are the spawn of a 9k and a 5k. well, if they mated.

ThatOneDrummer
12-29-2007, 01:00 PM
the 8k's are nice
incredibly beefy and just huge looking
but when i played around with one it felt no different than a 5000. i dont really see what the difference between 8 and 9k is anyway though. 8k probably has more adjustments than 5k, but it looks to me like it has the same adjustments as the 9k...

i didn't have the chance to play one. thats interesting it felt the same as a 5000.
