what's so shame about the setup? i used to be the same way about this type of setup. Then I finally played one. This is probably the most egronomical setup I can find. Tom flat and low, easy acces ride, yeah.

Nah I'm not going to rip on the set-up because there are way too many petty arguments about which method is more ergonomical on here, and tbh that is not what this thread is for. It's just that set-up isn't for me because I would not be able to play it comfortably.
Just don't want another argument on here! Congrats on the new kit though man, have you got it tuned up yet?

Yeah I see your point. I just don't like it personally and don't see how its comfortable. But thats your deal.
But yeah nice colour and nice hats

If that truly is the most confortable setup for you, then that's awesome, it's just that it bears a marked similarity to a famous drummer's setup who you just said was your hero.
Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of the sizes, but clearly you're happy, so sweet upgrade. Glad you like it. Thanks for sharing. Finish is nice. Quality, but not showy about it.

Yeah I got it tuned up. Still need a little work on the floor tom. i'm not used to that size.

Indeed, I have those hats too! I'm using some HHX Evo hats instead now because the AAx-Celerators were too harsh for me, but I might have to break them out again some time soon.
Mmm, 16" is a great size for a large floor tom. What did you have before?

I can't decide whether I would like chrome lugs better or not. Chrome lugs are a bit bolder with dark finishes, but the black looks awesome too. I'm not a big fan of the cymbal angles, but to each their own! Otherwise, I love the positioning.

as comfortable a set up that is, I just can't position my things like that, and I use two toms up. when I had 1 up 2 down, yea low/flat was comfortable.
But also the ride I find in that set up is typically far to high (Berk) to try and actually ping/ride it.
\
But meh, it's lookin nice, likin ur cymbals too, go easy ont he AAX splash, they is weak.
Good luck with it all though, gettin a new set sure is great. merry Christmas too!
to bad i dont really ride my ride
its easier to crash a cymbal thats higher than lower.

I like the number of drums, it works well with the finish, shows it off more, but I don't like how the drums are positioned etc etc. That's just my opinion.
That, however, is a very nice finish, and the black chrome hardware really compliments it well.
Congratulations on your purchase, and congratulations on Epiarch making you a nice kit.

Kit looks sexy, hate the setup (haha, I've tried it, my hands hit my snare XD... I'm not one who can hold his wrists up and hit something too far below them... such bad technique, imo), but it's still a nice kit. If that's what you like... well... heck, that's what you like.

what's so shame about the setup? i used to be the same way about this type of setup. Then I finally played one. This is probably the most egronomical setup I can find. Tom flat and low, easy acces ride, yeah.
Meh. I used to not care how my set up looked. Then I joined PDF. Then I made adjustments based on what I saw in front of the kit. Not completely flat all around, but the same idea. Then I finally realized how ****ing stupid that was, and about 6 months ago I decided to stop making any set up adjustments based on how the kit looks. All set ups/adjustments were based on how it feels. I don't think my kits ever been more comfortable than how it is set up right now.
Of course, I can't know for sure that you set your kit up with appearance as a high priority, and you'll probably deny it anyway. Whatever. Maybe this set up feels more comfortable than your previous set up, but that doesn't mean it's the most ergonomic.
...just my 24¢.

That, or I'll use the huge DW kit the kid's dad has at his house. :naughty:

you can play anything if you really want to.
I can play DT on a 4 piece. I can play rush on a 4 piece, you just have to change the fills a bit, but who wants to play a song exact anyway? I always change the fills for the most part.

I don't buy it
I've heard much funkier stuff come out of an MPC.
Questlove doesn't even play his notes all the time, he has that stupid "Knuckles" percussion guy doubling alot of his stuff.
More so snare and high hat...
Does that make KNUCKLES an "epic groover" too?
Oh yeah?
And On MD did they ask him anything about his playing?
There's not much to ask him
"So questlove, do you ever get bored of playing bass on 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4?"
What's with the hate?
It's boring!
If you're going to be a live hip hop band, at least do something that sounds remotely live on your albums.

No.
But I'm just saying that in a group where he creates MOST of his music
(You've only named 2 songs out of...3 studio albums he's made with the other percussionist) It's dissapointing that his "groove" is also knuckles "groove"

It pretty much discredits him.

Mm, no. It doesn't. And if you cite professional musicians' opinion of him you'll find that they'll back that up. If you cite the work that he gets, you'll also find that he is in no way discredited. It's a rather petty argument you're stating here.
