Pretty self explanatory thread. What scheduled releases for next year are you looking forward to?
For me, it would have to be The Verve's first new album in 11 years. Call me a sucker for brit-pop, but from what I've heard so far looks like their saying "f*ck the strings we're playing space rock again"
Apocalyptic Raids

Yeah if theyre gonna go down a similar route as the first album and ep's it could be one of the best releases of the year... But you never really know. Could be some great suprises this year.

Howlin Rain (hell yes), Dead Meadow, Protest the Hero. Bands that haven't released stuff in ages and really should be releasing something new soon imo: Espers, Jack Rose, Brightblack Morning Light, The Blithe Sons.
Hope Death Cab come out with a new release as well.Scheduled for a May release, although I didn't really get into Plans at all so I'm not optimistic.
I think there's a new Girl Talk in Jaunary and also the new Dre which will probably suck, but it's Dre so I don't care.

They're playing live again soon, if the new album's good I'm gonna go. They were pretty sweet last time.
I remember seeing them support Dinosaur Jr and they ruled, but when I saw them on their headline show it didn't have the same effect. I guess I can only take too much of them.

Wow, didn't realise that, thanks for the heads up. I've been a bit out of sorts with new releases and scheduled albums recently. It took me a while to get into Plans but I eventually ended up loving it, can't wait for their new release.

Is it true they're doing an album of mariachi?
No idea. I haven't heard a single thing about the album, apart from the fact that there will be one.
EDIT: on closer inspection, it appears they are working on two albums. One is apparently mariachi and the other is dead punk. Both to be released by the end of summer.

I heard a rumor that they were releasing a proper album, and then a second album which would be straight-forward mariachi covers of the first...

apparently QOTSA are already amped up to record another record this year. On the flip-side, Green Day better not record another album because they sold out and I am sick of their inability to play anything but power chords

Im just not a fan of their new stuff. All of a sudden they tried to become political and it kind of threw them in the wrong direction. There are many bands that could pull off the political agenda, but they are not on my list
