Hey I was wondering if anyone knew anything about cheap synthesizers. I have been messing around on my friends but hers costs like $2,000 +, anyone know of any decent cheap ones. None of the sites I looked at had customer reviews so i was wondering if you guys had any experience or knew anyone that does. Under $400 would be awesome.

Can you be more specific?
How many octaves do you need? Are we talking just synth sounds, or other instruments?

if you're wanting something kinda basic, but full-featured, look into the microKORG and Alesis's Micron.

they're small, but pack a lot of features in for an inexpensive price.

Yea that microKORG looks good, exactly what I had in mind. That looks like the lowest price i've seen to.

try and pick up a used one and use the money you save to get a good MIDI controller with full sized keys with velocity sensitivity.

i'm not a big fan of the small keys on the microkorg myself, but maybe you will be.

yeah, they're awesome, but i think he'd have trouble finding a Juno-106 or 160 for under $400 unless it had dead voicechips in it.

Except if he uses soft synths (which I do love) he will need to do a lot more to play live.

"eBay" - where juno 106s don't cost that much. i do wish i got a 60 though, i kind of want the arpeggiator more vs portamento. actually, i wish i could just have both. damn this world:( whatever. i use reason a lot more lately for synths than my juno

the oxygen is a great piece of hardware. and reason is a great piece of software. combined? you get anything you need. seriously, so many sounds to choose from, not just synth. and effects galore. get into some other VSTs and you can get like, moog soft synths, etc. i love MIDI

I have a minimoog and a RMI 368. Two classics I recommend. Hear them on my videos.

Agreed.

If you own a laptop, you should be using a computer-based synth if you want to save money.
