That sucks, most of the shows around here are all ages. There is a local band that I'd love to see perform again, most of their shows are 21+. I guess I'll have to wait until next year.

Indiana sucks so hard for live music.

I thought you decided to study over there.

Come to Puerto Rico. What are you planning on studying?

Akira
01-05-2008, 09:48 PM
I have no idea what I am going to do.
Even if I do go to IU, it will be a lot better there.

I want to study international relations or polisci or something along those lines.

Undisco Kidd

i want to do something kind of okay and make enough money to have a nice house and a a family and a nice vibraphone.

You like political science, that would be one of my last choices.

Akira

Lol. Vibraphones are sweet.

Which reminds me, Monday means the restarting of six hours a week of indoor percussion rehearsal. Rad. Or not.

I know. I'm regretting joining because everyone sucks and complains about how much we practice and I just sort of stand there playing easy music. I would love to practice more if most of the group wasn't so annoying and talentless.

Taking this to contest is going to be ****ing embarrassing.

Eight hours a day for three weeks for indoor is insane. Our big marching band camp, which is the same length a day, is only a week. That is for the actual marching band, not indoor. The band does other smaller camps, but wow.

This is only our school's second year doing indoor.

Dude, I a have been in a little studio/shed for the last 8 hours.

Im so burnt out....

Akira
01-05-2008, 10:15 PM
That is sweet.

I just learned about a few local bars with weekly blues jams. Of course they are bars though, so basically it just rubbed salt into my wounds.

Jody LeCompte
01-05-2008, 10:17 PM
Get a performers license. I got one when I still played for Taylor and I can get into anywhere age restricted now.

Yeah, it sucked. It took us 3 hours to get the drums sounding right, and then they weren't satisifed with my bass takes no matter what I did. I just got fed up when they started talking **** and left...

Akira
01-05-2008, 10:19 PM
Who were you playing with?

And performer's license? I am intrigued.

Jody LeCompte
01-05-2008, 10:25 PM
Yeah, I had to get one because Taylor plays in bars and shiz.

I don't know if it would work per say on a jam kind of thing but I dont see why it wouldnt.

Old band. The at the drive in style one. It was so stupid.

"Can't you keep time? Your not playing on beat with the drummer"
"I recorded the first track, the drums should be on beat with me"

Akira
01-05-2008, 10:28 PM
Lmfao.

I couldn't find anything on the interwebz about this license.
What I do know is that around here a lot of venue owners aren't too strict about letting people underage perform. I know a kid who did acoustic sets at one of the places I found and he was like 16 and looked younger.

Jody LeCompte
01-05-2008, 10:29 PM
It's kind of dumb.

If I had recorded after the drummer and then the final result was off time, that's my fault, but I recorded the first track...

Oh well. If wasn't my bag anyway. I was playing a P bass with a pick for christs sake.

Akira
01-05-2008, 10:36 PM
Why didn't the drummer record first?

And why would you record with a crappy hXc band?

Jody LeCompte
01-05-2008, 10:37 PM
In case you couldn't tell by the other night.

Im kind of desperate.

Also the last hXc band I turned down actually needed me to play on their third album and went on a 50 date tour the next month,.

Akira
01-05-2008, 10:38 PM
Ouch. That blows.

I am desperate too. The crappy metal band never called me. Which is a good thing, because I would have done it and it would have been bad for my ears and my soul.

Jody LeCompte
01-05-2008, 10:39 PM

It wasn't really what you guys are saying.

Everyone was constantly riding his ***, which started to piss him off. Along with that, the forum was just turning to ****. Gav tried to help get this place back on track, and people saw that as bitching while they all continued to tell him to STFU and spam every thread and blah blah blah.

Around that point is when he stepped down from his mod position and he started posting less. Not long after that he decided that he didn't want his account existed here in case future schools or employers researched him and found stuff all over this site.

All I've got to say is that I agreed with Gav and most people here were being absolute ****heads.

If you aren't doing a co-op course this coming semester, change your schedule now to do so.

Then apply through co-op, hopefully get it, and hopefully score some hours at the end of it (even this is a long shot though: the store is already about seven people overstaffed).

Quite annoying because I like the tone I got out of the active jazz and jaguar but the jaguar just felt lightyears away in quality and comfort.

Fender deluxe P bass special for the win. Seriously that bass is amazing other than the cheap gold pickguard and it really doesn't come in any good finishes. It sounds great thought, those fender noiseless pick ups are quite good.

I couldn't find a spot in a band as a bassist. However, just around the time I was starting guitar is when I started to talk to my bassist and drummer friends who were wanting to record an album. I started playing at just the right time to be ready to join/form this band and do this album.

Lulz, actually. Yeah. I just haven't because I can't effective pull off bass + vocals, plus I wanted to, you know, train my voice before actually putting anything out.

I have no idea how much of this song I'll be singing. I might just be relegated to doing harmonies.

Not to say big or famous, but what if we actually get some notice or recognition? I think we've made a pretty good album, and everyone who hears any of it seems to like it a lot.

Here are some bands we've been compared to:
At The Drive-In
Black Flag
The Melvins
The Pixies
Minor Threat

Bass through guitar speaker is not a good idea. Just on the scientific level bass produces lower frequencies than what a guitar speaker normally handles... Would probably f it up well.
