Yesterday I bought a brand new Galien Krueger Backline 112 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/prod...ombo?sku=482537, I played it for a few hours straight today and then all of a sudden I hear a little boom and I'm not getting any more sound out of the amp. I turned it off and I read the iintruction manual and as far as I know I did nothing wrong, but 10 minutes later it starts working again. What could of been the problem? I'm playing it in a small room, I'm using an 8 dollar cable that says VTG Audio Low Noise Instrument Cable, I had the voicing button on and I'm not sure what that means, and I only had the main volume 1/4th as loud as it goes, and the temperature is not too hot and not too cold. Could it have been the fact that the cable is cheap? I just realized that I'm supposed to unplug the power cable when not playing is that the problem? I love this amp and I don't want to ruin it so what was the problem? I'm also playing an Ibanez Soundgear 406 six string through this amp.

The problem could be that it is a Backline, but what do I know?

In most cases, a pop indicates a bad connection somewhere from the output of your bass, to the the input of your amp. Is the jack on your bass loose?

No, it seems fine.

Do you have other cables to try?

Was it a "popping" noise (when it went out) btw? I've never heard an amp go "boom."

This is the only cable I have to use, I do have another cable but it sucks and it doesn't work anymore, I was just playing and I heard a little boom like a speaker blew, but then I turned the volume up and down and I was getting nothing and the speaker was moving forward and backward as I was turning the main volume nob, it started working ten minutes later.

Were you playing it and it started working again, or did you turn it on first, and then try playing it?

Wait, the speaker was moving, but you weren't getting sound?

Yeah the speaker was moving because I was turning the main volume nob around and I just unplugged everything after that and I read the intruction manual and I plugged everything back in and turned everything on and it started working again, except this time I turned off the voicing button, I still have no idea what the voicing button does.

It doesn't make your amp not work, so just don't worry about that right now.

Just to be clear, was it making no noise at all, or was it buzzing?

It wasn't making any noise at all.

If the speaker was moving and there was no sound, that would indicate that there was no air in the room. Try opening a window.

But is it possible it has a thermal shutoff?

Or a sound beyond the range of human hearing.
