like you'll usually only listen to them to hear that one song
there are a lot, but the two i have in mind now are:
Broken Social Scene - Pacific Theme
Young Ginns - Half Twist
Jacaranda
12-06-2007, 07:42 PM
Celine Dion - My Heart Will Go On
ZZ Top - La Grange
BTO - You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet
Doctor D.
12-06-2007, 08:13 PM
Bob Schneider - Game Plan
I hate almost everything else he's done. But that song....
One Block Radius - Look Out Below
Aeaon
12-06-2007, 08:15 PM
Jesus Christ...
Well I guess I'll go ahead and say Once In A Lifetime by the Talking Heads. It's so addictive with the chorus, the lyrics, and how catchy it just is. I can never stop listening to it.
Tangy zizzle

Friends of Dean Martinez - Nowhere to Go
Between the Buried & Me - Mordecai
Led Zeppelin - Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You

this also includes bands that you don't generally like
but just have one song you think is excellent
i hate journey with a fiery passion but don't stop believing is just an awesome song.

maylene and the sons of disaster - memoirs of the grove =/
im not even sure why I bought that album
Robert Crumb

Don't generally like but...
Fiery Furnaces - Paw Paw Tree
This Heat - Sleep
The Pop Group - She Is Beyond Good and Evil
Like but far and away...
Jon Lucien - Would You Believe In Me
Bjork - Venus
Blackalicious - Blazing Arrow
Old Time Relijun - Mystery Language

Broken Social Scene - Pacific Theme
wait. What? I could see like, 7/4 shoreline being here or anthems for a 17 year old girl. . .
I mean, Pacific Theme is a great song and all, but. . . its a weird choice for their best song.
as for me, I'll have to go with Archers of Loaf- Web in Front
I listen to the whole cd (Icky Mettle) every time I put this on, but yeah. Web in Front is perfect, and nothing else they've done can really match it.

Foo Fighters are so bland but i like Everlong a whole lot. it's just one of those "night-driving" songs that really appeal to me, and you hear them so rarely on popular radio (1979 by Pumpkins is another one).
Cursive - The Recluse. i dont really like the whole album that much.
Dillinger Escape Plan - Sugar Coated Sour/43% Burnt
Converge - Concubine
i am rapidly losing my tolerance to heavy music so it takes a lot for me to really love metal or hardcore or grind/whatever songs anymore :(

If anyone here still has one single unanimous choice for "favorite song ever" and can't possibly think of others, then they probably havent been browsing this forum and discovering new music often enough.
this doesnt apply to the topic of your thread but music in general. i'd almost rather NOT have one favorite cause what if something bad happens to it?? gotta keep a contingency plan ;)

No, if I was being a prick I would have made some ridiculously long post trying to defend myself against the claim that the songs I listed were the only ones I was familiar with in regards to said artists. It doesn't matter, there isn't anything more I can do or say at this point. I just don't understand why my attempts to make a genuine contribution to the thread have to be ridiculed.
Anus Invader
12-09-2007, 04:46 PM
well nobody's really ridiculing you, that's the thing.
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out was the only one in your list that was reversed, so he very kindly informed you that it was actually the reverse. no reason to be defensive about the fact it was a typo. and the reason he asked the other thing (not really ridiculing) was because a lot of those bands have many great songs, and you tended to post just the hits, so he thought it was safe to assume you hadn't heard much else, which may or not be true.
you're just being really defensive when nobody's really attacking you

alright gonna listen to it right now with this in mind
also, i'm hoping for their integrity's sake that the actual song title is "je t'aime"
edit: so it is je t'aime, and the song does indeed rule. i still don't think it comes near Reformat though.. no real thick grooves. i like how his voice is totally different on 3/5 and cat and the cobra
second edit i'm listening to Reformat haaaahahaha god damn 130% rock, like how do you beat a song like this

I still stand by my choice for Les Savy Fav's best song, although I butchered it's title when typing it out.

american football- i'll see you when we're both not so emotional
i really like this band, but a lot of the music has too much filler it seems. this song, and never meant are the two best i think.

try "honestly?" or some other song that's in the middle of the album. the closer is kind of stinky

I think I like Joan of Arc more. Is that a sin?
perriwinkle
05-08-2008, 12:16 PM
nah theyre a different style... debatably more interesting, because American Football has a very defined and consistent sound, while Joan of Arc tends to be all over the place.. i'm not positive but i might actually like Owls more than both
Yeah, I think Owls are better than American Football and Joan of Arc.

I can never choose a fav ES song, but when I get close it's usually something off of s/t. Like St. Ides or The Biggest Lie.
