Hot Darn!

I have an Peavey raptor I do not play anymore. The neck on this guitar actually isn't all that bad.I was thinking of buying one of those precut bodies on e-bay and putting together my own guitar by bolting the neck on to the new body.
Now I have never tried to do anything like this but have always wanted to. I also am unsure of the type of wood to buy. I have a mahogany SG and I would like something with a slightly brighter tone than that. Also, what would I need to check neck wise on the body? The guitar I am taking the neck from was a strat copy, so should any strat copy body style work? For example would this work? Should I just buy a brand new neck too?
