My friends and had to create a school project about Beowulf... so we made a rock operetta. If you've never read Beowulf (or seen it, haha), you probably won't know what's going on, but that's fine by me. We pretty much wrote all of the songs (except 2, read the biography) and recorded them within a period of 6 days. I like it. Anyways, I had nothing to do tonight... except procrastinate reading a book for school... so I made this profile! Check it out...

I'm playing this for the first time now.

PART 1 or INTRODUCTION or both, I have no idea. you f'ucked up B:p:
great intro. just so "right". really sets the mood. haunting. like it quite a lot. the violin, the percussion, the vocals... mysterious-like, dark atmosphere. then a more "orthodox" melody starts rockin'. and it really does rock. funky yet sensitive stuff. I can't stop bobbing me head really. this is just so funky. you definitely got the rhythm down white boys.

PART 2:
once again, nice stuff. spaced out track with f'ucked up vocals and punchy, distorted guitars. the bass does however KILL this track. I dunno if this was your intention or not, but it sounds real weird from me speakers. the bass isn't too loud really. it's just too loud compared to all the other elements - especially the guitars and drums, which btw both rock. especially towards the end. supreme stuff.

PART 3:
fantastic folky stuff, complete with flutes and what sounds like some sort of goblet drum, like a djembe or whatever.

PART 4:
well uhm... I thought about writing «this isn't really a folk rock opera, like I first labeled it as» on my PART 3 comment, but uhm... I thought that it might get more "normal" as the opera progresses... but err... yeah. this is f'ucked up. in a very nice way though. this track is just... awesome man. Dr. Dre yo? beat's awesome. vocals rock.

PART 5:
jolly stuff this. feelgood tune with once again, awesome vocals. I gotta hand it to you. the vocals are really consistent throughout this opera-thingy. short but sweet stuff.

PART 6:
allow me to repeat myself: awesome vocals. the melody itself is wacked out and sweet.

PART 7:
uhm... I can't really figure out owt to say. it's just awesome. could've easily (melody-wise) been merged with PART 6. same kind'a vibe.

PART 8:
I like these little interludes you've had earlier. they're not too long, nor are they annoying. they fit. this is however the longest one yet - a whole track. over two and a half minute. and there's not much else going on here. just a dialogue with the wind howling in the background. btw, did he ask for Ray f'ucking Charles? lol. I like it though. it's kind of important for the story. and it's not one of those pointless interludes that ruin the listening experience. I like it. and I especially like the screaming. good stuff.

PART 9:
he did say Ray Charles... you are some wacked out mother f'uckers. whatever. this is a classy piano tune. real classy. concludes the opera real nice. it probably wouldn't work as good in the middle of the opera. (melody-wise. I'm not taking the lyrics into consideration in this statement at all.) or, it could. but it works better as an album/opera closer.

conclusion:
it's a rocker.

Thank you very much... I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading this - it seriously made me feel very warm inside and outside and around and ontop. Thank you for a great criticism once again, dear friend.

Introduction

Starts off very well with a very monophinc texture. The chiming on the bell is very effective. Great vocals which sound worthy of a large production. What i'm so impressed with is how clear your vocals are, and yet how good they sound. Ahh, the bass and piano enters very well. The next bit, hmm very interesting. I like this, sorta ading a more upbeat modern element to a story set long ago. The vocal harmonys in the next bit, sound authentic. And the sorta talking in the background works well.

Grendals fight and a party

Cool intro, with some interesting upbeat guitar. Cool voice for the creature thing (never read book or seen film.) Can't say i've heard anything like this before. I like the tribal drums as Beowolf talks a lot, and the guitar solo, it's awesome. Kind of goes back to the whole kind of folk theme, as the villagers? sing.

Beowolf and Grendsma battle

I must admit, i am currently captivated to what is to happen next. So many styles. Never have i been so intrigued to listen to someones stuff to the end. Cool hip-hop sorta section. Vocals are as awesome as previously, and the lyrics are amusing. Never seen a rap song with folh lyrics :).

Beowolfs reign and a Dragon.

Cool kind of upbeat sound to this part. Great tune, with some cool sounds. The change in style to the overdrive guitars is awesome and the vocals. What can i say. They are actually perfect here. High pitch, in tune

Fight to the Deaths

Ahh merges perfectly with the previous section. Haha, the dragons vocals. Awesome. Sounds like kermit the frog. Great distorted guitar. Like the voice acting in the part where the music drops. Your music has genuanly made me laugh out loud. Good backing sounds help to give a good atmosphere. Very funny

Blind mans mourn

Some good piano, and some cool dialog. Ahh man, you guys have got such great vocals. Great simple, but epic song to end the song well. I just find it hillarious to here this kind of music with lyrics telling the story of Beowolf. Great ending to your rock-pop-rap-folk-blues + any other styles i missed opera

ANyways, what can i say, No other stuff from Sputnik music has been so intersting and put me in such a good mood. The song was just plain funny. Ahh, if i could buy like a CD i would Can i buy a CD?

Anyways, this is a school project? How old are you guys?

Pretty awesome. You sound nothing like how you look. Cool vocals anyways

Hey, thanks so much for your great criticism! Yeah, I have gotten the "sound nothing like you look" thing for a while, now. Haha... umm... about the people in the project. I'm 17, the guitarist and Beowulf is 18, and I think the other two twins are 17. We're all pretty good friends, so it was really cool working together.
