Hey guys, I don't post here to often but I troll a lot and i just wanna say I love these boards.

Onto my question. I'm looking at my kit, Yamaha stage custom natural finish, and I'm thinking how sick it would look with black hardware. So I'm thinking about taking off the rims and the lugs and painting them but I'm not sure how the best way to go about this would be. Do you think regular spray paint would do the job and make it look nice? I'm looking for a nice even black coat with high gloss.

Anyone who's done this before? Any tips or anything would be great! thanks!

The only good way is powder coating.

Any other way, and the paint will chip off and it will look terrible.

Powder coat

Or give all your stuff an acid bath first, to get rid of the chrome, and make it nice a rough with a bit of sandblasting. Then spray painting it might work.

Are you talking about cymbal stands, etc. or your lugs and snare drum parts?

Spray paint will never last. Powder coating is really the only alternative, and it will eventually chip, especially if you're not really careful to make sure the parts don't get rubbed, banged, scratched, etc.

Find a local industrial painting company that offers powdercoating and see how much they would charge. I had a snare drum shell done for $25.
