just so you're all aware... this is a firewire mixer by Alesis, on sale at the gc/mf/m123 conglomerate. list $799, usually $599, now $399.

definitely recommend this! it's firewire, but i believe the firewire outputs on each channel are pre-fader and pre-eq. which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you feel.
anyway, thought you'd all be interested.

Oshi.
That should work with a Mac,right?

yeah, i'd be more worried about software integration, though.

Basically the same idea as a firepod?

The 12-channel is 399, but it appears the 16 is 599

If you search for it on music123, both the 12 and 16 channel come up as $399. But when you click the link it says its $599.
I tried adding it to my cart but it looks like they've sold out. So maybe that's why they've reverted back to $599.

Its probably not as good quality as the Firepod (definitally not as good as the Firestudio) but still looks like a worthy investment.
I like the Pre-fader model, that way you can run a live mix while recording the raw tracks.

That's the one i have. 16 input, firewire output for $399. Absolutely no complaints so far.
neat stuff. Can someone educate me about the benefits of being able to mix/eq audio channels on those boards, instead of through software?

if you're a fuddy duddy like me, you're used to it :p
but seriously... on a PC i can really only control one "surface" at a time (the one the mouse is on) whereas on a mixer, i have ten fingers, or at least two hands, to be making edits.
