Papier mache

i have a vague plan to cover a telecaster with maps and then possibly put a lacquer over the top, i was thinking of papier maching the maps over it and then lacquering over it, any ideas if anything like this has been done before or if it will end up horrifically?

Why not handpaint the maps the lacquer over the top of it?

It'll look much better.

when i was younger i would go to my grandmothers and do something like that with glass and **** as something to do with her. I can't really explain how i would go about doing it but i can totally see it working alright.
