O.k. so this might one of those bands that everybody knows about and just doesn't mention. Maybe I'm not aware of this. But if you actually don't know, Dread Zeppelin is for the most part a Led Zeppelin cover band, except they do it in a reggae style with an Elvis impersonator singing. Pretty rad, I know.
So either look into them, or discuss the greatness that is...Dread Zeppelin.

Kind of a novelty, not really good music.

saw them a couple of times. they were fun live, sounded good. real irreverent and the arrangements of some of the songs were pretty fitting. lots of Zep tunes are well given to the reggae / ska treatment, i think. even if Dread is in it just for kicks. and they obviously are.
i actually liked them a whole lot better then a few Zep "tribute" bands i've seen since, trying to play the tunes riff for riff. Dread made for a pretty fun night of music. might seem silly on video, but silly is part of it. and it works for a night or two out.
even Plant likes them:

hahahaha immigrant song is hilarious
Yeah, I realize they're being silly and all that, and I respect that a lot, but I didn't particularly think the arrangements were that stellar.

This band is great. I'd probably listen to them more than Led.

When did they start? There's a video on youtube of Zappa doing the same thing in like '88.

Not very good music, it's kinda like Weird Al style.
