Ok guys, posted this in the websites thread as well but thought a thread of its own was required.

Sorcerer's Spell = http://www.myspace.com/sorcerersspell

Yes i know power metal is sometimes considered "kinda gay" by some. But they haven't been drinking enough.

NOTE. The above music is best listened to drunk.

....preferably wearing a silly hat.

Disciples of Metal

The intros cheesy but i suppose that's what your going for. Vocals are perhaps a bit weak their though considering it's metal. I'm not too into the lyrics, but i never been into the whole kind of "fantasy" lyrics, but i know loads of bands that use them. I still don't think your vocals are too bad, and the guitaring's awesome. In fact your vocals are a bit different for metal which is cool. The keyboards are subtle but work well, and it sure is catchy in the chorus :) The duel guitar solo is cool, and impressive.

Land of the Unknown

The harpsichord and strings intro is cool and the guitar accompanys it well. The vocals work well in this song, and the arpegiated guitar is good. It's cheesy as hell, but it sounds good. The break into the heavy guitars is cool, but your vocals aren't strong enough when you say "forever". The guitar run is cool and the sorta pizzicato sound is quite originall, and it sounds good. The vocals sound quite cool by now, as they sound more full.

I'm afraid that's all i had time to listen to but i promise to get back and crit your other 2 songs shortly

Wow. Top crit. Thank you very much.

I'd agree with your comments about my vocals. They were, unfortunately, very rushed and largely not double tracked in places that they should have been due to us running out of time/money at the studio. That and i could really do with some vocal coaching but have neither the time nor money. It's tough teaching yourself to sing from the diaphragm. (sp?)

As for the cheesyness......it's deliberate. So at least we are well aware how ridiculous we look....well.....I look.

Oh yeah.

There's a fine line between good cheesy and lame cheesy. You don't want to seem like you're deliberately trying to be cheesy, you want to be cheesy and make it look like you're 100% serious. That's when it's the most funny.

Guitar playing was good, although a bit generic, drums could use double bass, the vocals were pretty good, not really power metal vocals, though. Power metal vocalists use vibrato, but that comes in time.

Sorcerers Spell

Starts of cool, good simple guitar and symbals with piano. The next part is very cool, and the duel guitars are awesome. The vocals come in well, with power here, and the bouncy guitar is good. The guitar follows the tune of your vocals well, and this really adds something i feel. The guitar solo is very impressive. The deep talking saying the story made me lol, but i spose that was the purpouse. Ends the piece well

Diciples of Metal remix

Pretty cool. Works suprisingly well. Haha, forgot the lyrics. The screaming made me laugh. This song is genuinly funny.

Fantastic. Thank you once again for the crit. Tis muchly appreciated indeed. The Christopher Lee style narration makes everyone laugh. Even us. That's why we love it so much.

I still have to stress that power metal bands should be funny, but shouldn't act like they're trying to be funny. Power metal is only subtle in one way and that's the humor. You can run around with a cape and a guitar and go lolz I r teh powar lord aren't I funny or you can BE the powar lord and never laugh at yourself. You're 100% serious. The Forest of the Twilight Unicorn Powar isn't a cheesy or funny song title, it's an AWESOME title, metal as ****. Never admit that your music is cheesy. If someone says that it is, **** them, they probably sit in their basement and go chugga chugga and listen to Slayer.

A very fair point.

Fortunately we have yet to do that on stage. Although it is an idea...without the "lolz.." bit.

No, don't do that. That's my thing. But feel free to come up with your own power metal character.

I shall have to ponder this carefully.

And thank you very much Gabe......we'll let you know when we get to NY....it might take a while.
