This same topic has probably been done too many times but I feel like making another Pink Floyd thread because I like them a lot. I want to get more albums because I only own the live Delicate Sound of Thunder so for my next album I'm going to get Dark Side of the Moon because I heard it's a great starter album for getting into Pink Floyds discograhpy. David Gilmour is probably my favorite guitarists because his guitar solo's are so emotional. So what's your favorite Pink Floyd album's?

Depends if you like their Syd Barret psych-rock or the progressive rock they developed farther along the track. Dark Side of the Moon is the perfect blend for me.

Yeah I love Pink, I was so shocked when he left the band. :( It's just not the same.

Animals. One of the greatest albums in history.

OOoh too many to choose from, either Dark Side, Wish You Were Here or Animals. And Meddle should get a shout just for containing Fearless and Echoes.

I love this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYd6mCAcQw8
Roger Waters does a great job of conveying the emotions of Pink, but I reckon that Bob Geldof did just as good a job in the movie The Wall.
As for albums, I'd probably have to rank them as:
First Tier: The Division Bell, The Wall, Animals, Obscured By Clouds, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side Of The Moon, Live At Pompeii, Meddle
Second Tier: The Final Cut, A Saucerful Of Secrets, Ummagumma, More, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, Pink Floyd: The Early Singles, BBC Archives, Delicate Sound Of Thunder, Echoes In The Garden (Live), Psychadelic Sessions 1967
Third Tier: Atom Heart Mother, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason, Prism, Echoes, A Collection Of Great Dance Songs, Relics

I have a hard time deciding my favorite Pink Floyd album. Atom Heart Mother is probably my favorite, either that or Animals but it always is changing.

My favorites are probably Animals and Piper. Then Wish You Were Here and The Wall close behind. Lately, I haven't been able to stop listening to See Emily Play.
See Emily Play isn't on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, though?

Have I got a treat for you gents then. David Gilmour and Rick Wright performing Arnold Layne with David Bowie on vocals. They don't really show the drummer, but it could be Nick Mason. I'm not 100% sure though. Judging from the age of Bowie and Gilmour and Wright, it's a fairly recent concert. So it may be the tour where Mason joined Roger Waters instead.

That was a show on Gilmour's tour for On an Island
Nice, I never got the DVD for that. I probably should.
Mason wasn't on that tour, if I remember correctly.

I like early Pink Floyd and Meddle, a few songs here and there after that but they seemed to get into themed music and I don't really dig that...plus after thinking about it alot "Shine on you crazy diamond" is a pretty lame thing to say about someone like Syd Barrett...

How so? It's quite a compliment, actually, if a somewhat regretful one. And I assume you by "themed music" you mean concept albums?
Really don't like that song.
Yeah, but you like screamo. Case closed.

The Division Bell is a really great album. It's usually Waters supporters who don't like it, purely because it doesn't have Roger involved.

Maybe it's just me but i dunno if i'd want to be called a 'crazy diamond' . . . i don't think much of roger waters as a lyricist for the most part, he's got some good stuff but 'crazy diamond' is kind of lame in my opinion.

No, I meant that screamo is almost the opposite of that song. See Emily Play is an upbeat psychadelic rock song about a man who steals women's undies from clotheslines then goes to jail for it.
I used to like screamo, but now I don't. That's not being close-minded. I mean, you'd bust a nana if I'd called you close-minded for not like See Emily Play, right?

He was crazy in a good way and a bad way, and seeing as a diamond is the most precious of all gemstones, it seems like a compliment to me.

But we're talking about Arnold Layne, which is, in fact, an awful song. The fact that I like screamo has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion of Pink Floyd songs.

Bleh, my mistake, I mixed up topics of discussion.
Anyway, the fact still stands: It's such an opposite to the aesthetics of screamo that it's no wonder that you don't like it.

But the only screamo I like is CTTS. Tons of it is just boring.
And am I not allowed to like more than one genre of music? Screamo is nowhere near my favorite, so
I just assumed that since you had a CTTS related username and location that you liked screamo in general. My mistake.
And you're the one who offered an opinion with no clarifier. So don't get all jumped up and defensive when I comment on your opinion.

Sorry for misunderstanding the question a few post's back, I really have no idea how I made such a dumb mistake, But anyway, my favorite song off that disc is Run Like Hell but that's a tough choice because all the other song's are just as great.
