Alright what's going on with this I read on sputnik news they were making a new album and it said that on their myspeezy too but then I read on sputnik news that it was a greatest hits album.

Are they releasing new material or not? If so, is it good?

I still don't know how they went from L.D. 50 to Lost and Found. LAF isn't horrible but its nothing in comparison.

i never got into them untill LAF... then i kind of went backwards and listened to LD50 (amazing).. but the demo before that (Kill i oughtta) is terrible.

Jom

Nah, the demo is called "Kill, I Oughtta" and the first track is 'Poop Loser.'

As for this "new" album, it's going to be predominantly a Greatest Hits album, and then two new songs: "Dull Boy" and a Police cover ("Kill the Pain").

Mudvayne frontman Chad Gray says the group is "getting really close" to figuring out what songs are going to appear on its fan-generated album "By the People, For the People," due Nov. 27 via Epic.

"We're just kind of sitting back and letting it go," says Gray, who, along with Mudvayne guitarist Greb Tribbett, is on the road with their side band, Hellyeah. "There's a couple of things I'm excited for -- but I don't want to give them away. The arrangements are different. There's a couple things with completely different choruses. I think our fans are really gonna love this, man."

The concept of "By the People..." allows Mudvayne fans to choose their favorite songs from the group's catalog; the band will then dig into its vaults for specific versions of those tracks, considering demos, live renditions and alternate tracks.

"We have tons and tons of (hard) drives and archived stuff," Gray explains. "We were like, 'We should get this to the people. They'd probably love this.' We just want to give back something to the people that have supported us for so long and allow them to be more a part of Mudvayne."

The album will include two unreleased songs -- a cover of the Police's "King of Pain" and "Dull Boy," a new track recorded for the next Mudvayne album, which Gray says was finished earlier this year with producer Dave Fortman and ready to go, until he changed his mind.

"I needed more content," Gray explains. "I just started looking at it and listening to it and reading lyrics and stuff, and I knew I wanted to expound upon some of the ideas and introduce some new things. I just don't think it's ready, so we're going to go back and write some new songs."

Gray expects Mudvayne to hit the studio again in January and says there's "the potential for it to be a two-record thing, or a double-disc. Whatever rounds it out, I'm into."

I like Rain Sun Gone, IMN (wonder what it stands for?), All That You Are, and Happy (even though its very radio friendly, its a good song). Oh, and Forget to Remember. Like I said, its really not a bad album, its just not as.....deep (I guess would be the right word) as their earlier work.

Quoted for truth.
These guys need to get the facepaint on and go back to their old ways.

I think they had an original sound in that Ryan (bassist) has an original style and was high in the mix (and had awesome tone). Lost and Found pissed me off because they took the only cool thing about the band and got rid of it. Gay!

I dont give a **** if its a gimmick....they write better music when they wear facepaint.

"Dig" is okay for the occasional "jam-out". "World So Cold" and "Not Falling" are decent, "Happy?" and "Forget to Remember" are good. The two new tracks are rather forgettable, IMO.

LD50 was wicked sick. but that was the madvayne of the past. somehow after they got rid of the masks their music was pure radio friendly. I saw them in a youtube vid once performing Happy? in a talkshow. i think it was david letterman or something of that equivalence.. a TALKSHOW!?!?! hardly a shadow of their former self i must say

Watered down mainstream heavy rock.I actually thought Lost and Found had some really good parts to it,but after hearing Dull Boy its obvious that they are going further in that direction, which i dont like.

Either of Mudvaynes other albums are far better, not to mention Dry Kill Logic's The Dead and Dreaming and Of Vengeance and Violence, and 40 Below Summer's The Mourning After.

We are just basing this argument purely on opinion, and in my opinion LD 50 was much more interesting than the other 2 albums. It was basically a progressive nu-metal album, which floats my boat much more than the mainstream modern heavy rock like on Lost and Found (i still like it though, dont get me wrong).

The best nu-metal album is without a doubt Korn's self titled (and no, not their new self titled. that is rubbish). L.D.50 comes in 2nd. Atleast thats how I see it.
