So the "What are you listening to" has some talk about the new Wu Tang album, so lets talk about that.
Anyone else not too hyped on Guitar Gently Weeps? But the album is going to be cool I hope.

Allmusic is not a bad place to look, but what you said about "good rap" dying is totally false.
And Hernik try out Restless or Full Circle, they're the only two X albums I've heard but I'm not big on his ****.

You guys mainstream rap doesn't necessarily mean poor lyricism, just lyricism pertaining to different subject matter. Not saying a lot of that Gorilla Zoe **** isn't garbage but you can't tell me Duffle Bag Boys isn't cold.
What is good and not good is basically opinion, but people act like the **** around right now barely even counts as hip-hop, which has actually been happening since the 90s.

Well right now there's not any rap on the radio but what I can remember from the last years is Nelly, Eminem, Black Eyed Peas, 50 Cent and stuff like that plus some spanish bands who are pure crap.
There's some good hip-hop though but it's very underground.

I wouldn't be concerned with any Wu beef. It's been on since the group pretty much started in one way or another and, as has been stated before, Ghostface and Raekwon "don't like anyone." They're just being they're usual, bragadocious, delf.
On that note, I'm so pscyhed for the album. Watch Yr Mouth aint great but I dig The Heart Gently Weeps more and more. RZA has always been upping his game and he hasn't made a 36 Chambers style, dirty raw sound production, since the first round of Wu albums, so that's not even a concern. And Only Built II is gonna be ill and Ghostface has put out two good albums lately so there's high hopes there and new INS, shrug. I'm looking forward to a Wu monopoly of the charts.
And how about Lupe, Kanye, and Pharrell?

Dude the way record sales are and the way hip-hop charts combined, a Wu chart monopoly is about as likely as Tupac and Mozart laying down a track on the album.
Only Kanye makes good music out of those three, Pharrell hasn't made a good song since Drop It Like It's Hot. Lupe is boring 80% of the time.

If Wu is solid, which I don't expect them not to be, then they can dominate. Though they haven't been around for a while, except for Ghost, they always sell well. Meth had no promo and his record made it in the top 10 of the charts. When Wu is good, Wu sells. Even if the commercial hip hop game ain't nothin' special, Wu pulls through and people buy it.
I personally don't care for Pharrell, but I think Lupe is pretty good and is a breath of fresh air. I'm more excited for him + Kanye. And their single/only released song so far sampled Thom Yorke so that's cool. It wasn't nothing special but it wasn't bad. Shrug. Kanye is the main attraction though 'cause he's been consistently awesome.
EDIT: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/mixtape/id.265/title.wu-tang-8-diagrams-mixtape
I dig it. It's raw. Also, there's a new article with Ghost where he talks about the 'beef' and it's just Ghost being Ghost. But wevz, if the new album has more strings and is a theatrical album, that's no reason it'd be bad. Rza has been changing up his sound for a while and growing since he started. No big deal.

"Consistently awesome" is nowhere near how I'd describe Kanye, but most of the time he's solid, yeah.
Even if Wu Tang CDs carry weight in the top 10 for a few weeks, does that even mean anything anymore? Hip-hop's biggest consumer is the White suburbs, and an even smaller portion of those people are into hip-hop older than six months ago. "Coffee shop chicks and white dudes" are going to be into it, but still, Ghostface had a single out with Ne-Yo, and as label forced (and awesome) as it was, it's not like the Wu was on everyone's lips.
EDIT: Dude I was about to link to that same tape.

It don't mean nothin' that it's white kids that rock the Wu. It's not like they've ever catered to a crowd. Yeah sure, Ghost put out a single with Ne-Yo, but it was still Ghost's style. He's always been a more 'emotional' rapper and he's always been into bein' a little more commercial, so that ain't nothing. The point is, Wu Tang has always and will always be for real because that's who they are. Jay can talk about drugs and Dre can talk about Compton, but Wu Tang doesn't flaunt and they actually have cred, so there's that in their favour. Nas is similar and it's no surprise that the two have worked together and are friends.
I think it'd be great for Ghostface's new cd to be in the top 10, the next week have 8 diagrams come in, a couple months later have Ghost's other cd with MFDOOM, then Rae's sequel. Those four CDs will no doubt make it on the charts and I'm pretty sure at least 8 Diagrams and Rae's are gonna be rockin', and if Ghostface's solo is as good as he says it is, it can top Fishscale. Whether they're on the charts for a week or a month ultimately doesn't mean anything, but I can't help but feel that they'll be on there long enough to hopefully clutter it with Wu.
Maybe awesome is too strong to describe Kanye, but his albums are fire and his mixtapes are good too. Better than that Weezy **** even though he produced for him.

Shrug, I think he's clever. And I think that even though it's pretty much using the whole Daft Punk chorus, it's still a good song and is pretty original. Necro's diss towards Michael Jackson is possibly the most vicious diss track I've ever heard - Billie Jean 2005.

Obviously I mean his flow.
Flavor Flav may have been a good assistant producer, but you can't tell me he can rap. His raps are "mediocre" to say the very least. Yeeeeeeeeeeeah BOI. Chuck D throws him a few filler tracks just so people can visibly see his contribution. Chuck D, Terminator X and Professor Griff were the bomb however.
Necro's rapping abilities are exceedingly high, he knows how to write a catchy rhyme, and has a surprisingly decent vocabulary, despite the vile subject matter (which is humourous). ICP is horrorcore, Necro is death rap.
Listen to Necro's Dead Body Disposal and Billie Jean 2005 mate, his flows are tight.

Man public service announcement wasn't interesting. The beat was nothing cool and the lyrics were very average. It was another boastful rap. Nothing special whatsoever. All I have retained from that song is that he has some woman wearing his chain, and for some reason that is noteworthy. I've always thought Jay-Z was rubbish but I listened to that song without any bias. Luckily it confirmed my thoughts.
Necro's business in dissing MJ is humour. I like MJ's **** but recording a diss is satirical. Like South Park or Family Guy, they diss people, do you get offended everytime they drop it on someone you like?

You're a pretentious little wank. Free speech says Necro has business dissing whoever he wants. If I threw up a Biggie avatar and listened to some boring, mainstream rap would I have more to do with the scene? You seem to consider yourself a bit of a hip-hop connoisseur, why is it that you think some arrogant rhyme about how good everything is with the bling and women is anything different? It is common, shathouse rap. 50-Cent does it, Lil Jon does it, rapping about violence, beating up people who look at you, and scaring other rappers. Compare anything by Jay-Z to Nas' Illmatic, or something along the lines. No comparison. It's boring. But perhaps you see something in his rhymes that interest you. I personally don't.

I don't wanna live no more
Sometimes I hear death knockin' on my front door
I'm livin' every day like a hustle
Another drug to juggle
Another day, another struggle
My current favorite hip-hop song.

Video might be the most expensive vid made since Puffy was shuffling around in a wind tunnel.
Hahah, Birdman is a pretty bad rapper and Lil' Wayne is one of the worst rappers ever, but the beat in this song is pretty nice and the hook isn't bad either. I have a soft spot for Young Jeezy, also.
Siqqqq vid, though.

I think Birdman and Lil Wayne are tight, but that video should have it's own Oscar category.

Aaron you listen to Sage Francis. See the Against Me! thread for why you don't matter.

Haha, I don't really listen to Sage Francis that much. But yes, I do like some of his stuff. And I already saw the Against Me! thread.
