Progressive Death Metal is probably my favourite sub-genre, but I don't actually have that much of it, so I'm coming for you to recommendations. I would like to hear some bands that sounds like any of these:

Edge of Sanity (crimson era in particular)
Be'Lakor
Opeth (obviously)
Disillusion
Mercenary
Thurisaz
Or Dan Swano's solo work

Atists I need to check out (from this thread):

Orphaned Land
Control Denied
Star One
Threshold
Andromeda
Gwyinbleidd
Novembre
Textures
Dies Irae
uneXpect
Dripping
Gonin-Ish
Persefone
Farmakon
Neath
Quo Vadis
Unexpect
Melechesh
early Celtic Frost
early Anathema
Cynic
Maudlin of the Well
Lykathea Aflame

Before you ask, I did this list so I can just quickly look to see what bands I should look up :)

Progressive DEATH?

after looking through my itunes i can say....
November's Doom No
Garden of Shadows (more melo-death though)
Persefone
Farmakon (the opeth influenced band) No. They're just Opeth but instead of clean breaks, they try to be ironic with funky parts

Control Denied are pretty good.
No they arent. They also aren't death. Their album is just TSOP with a shittier vocalist.

All recommendations are appreciated, even if it isn't that progressive, but still quite melodic (as all of these bands are quite melodic)
I just figured he would like it OK

Have a listen of Silent Waters by Amorphis. It's not really death, but there are similarities to Opeth, both musically and the fact that it's ****ing awesome.
