I've never used a ToM but I would think you would ground the tailpiece instead of the bridge. Make sense?

The grounding wire goes through the control cavity and comes up and touches the bridge(which is made of metal...)

Yeah I would ground the tailpiece too. The bridge saddles don't have to be metal. The one TOM bridge I have has graphtec saddles which I doubt are very conductive. I'm not sure how it's grounded to be honest.

I didn't realize they are made of graphtec
If you don't ground you will hear a buzzing sound every time you plug in.

Just remember that what you're really trying to accomplish is to ground the strings (do you know why?). So probably grounding the tailpiece is the most effective considering we don't know whether the saddles are conductive.

Drilling a hole would seem to be in order :)
These are the kind of things that sometimes need to be planned in advance. Can you drill at an angle from under where the tailpiece will be, to come out in the controls cavity?

There you can see some pictures of where the hole is drilled, and i think i have some pictures that show the wiring kinda clear like mud. i know i grounded my bass in 2 different ways just to be sure.
