Yes. They take a little while to break in. They won't stay like that long.

Don't worry, we all have to learn sometimes. New strings take a while to break in. They may slip out of tune more than usual for a little while too.

iwannaslap, I think you'll find that the new string, metallic sound will grow on you quite quickly and will be a vital part of your tone and style, especially when playing slap bass.

I saw tool live two weeks ago and they weren't "hiding in the dark". They were upfront, tons of lights, interacting with the audience, etc.
