Well, the time has come to replace the Ibanez GSR200 I've been playing on for the last year or so since I got back into playing.

I absoluetly love very deep tones that have a kind of warm overture to them. I think most P Basses are capable of it, as are a variety of Warwicks, but I really don't want to spend too much right now. $450 or so is about as high as I'm willing to go.

I've been out of the loop for awhile so some help here would be appreciated :thumb:

Oh yeah, natural finish (wood grain) basses are awesome. :naughty:

Just go to BassNW. Lots of great deals.

I would suggest saving some more money and buy yourself a bass that will last you awhile. Personally looking back I should have saved all my money and bought 1 really nice bass instead of the 1 poor, 2 average, and one great bass I have.

Now that I am done my rant...

Definitely look into MIM basses. A jazz with natural finish is so hot imo. I think a lot of basses around that price might provide you with the tone you are looking for.
I am a Yamaha fanboy so I won't say too much.

Go look around and come back with some ideas of what you like and we'll decide for you! :p:p

I've seen a few natural finishes on MIM P's and there are always flaws on them. Always... They get banged up pretty easy. I would def suggest either a MIM P or J. You can always mod them after too.

Yeah, it is really hit or miss on them.

I've played the Ibanez EDB400 before, and I loved it. No woodgrain look but it has the thin J style neck I like and it was really pretty ballsy on the lows... wish they still made the EDA though... I'd sell my kidney for one of those.

Most "Classic" style Fender J basses seem to put out the sound I like, but they are expensive as all hell. :smash:

I am looking for a small amount of versatility, looking for a little bit of twang, occasionally I do a little diddy that needs some highs but thats pretty rare.

If anyone has heard Hot Water Music's version of "Radio" from The Alkaline Trio, thats what I'm looking for, just minus a bit of the twang.

Anyone played on/own a Schecter C-4?
