My next buy....i've been looking into reviews. I'm trying to get all the feedback i can about these basses.

Stiletto 5 - http://www.schecterguitars.com/spec.asp?id=103#
Studio 5 - http://www.schecterguitars.com/spec.asp?id=111#
Sr 905 - http://www.ibanez.com/bass/guitar.aspx?m=SR905

I'm looking for the tonal characteristics of these basses.
How do they handle the lows/mids/highs. How diverse are they?

What i want....

I play in a hard rock band. I'm looking for that clear high tone, so bass chords sound huge, and clear, still with body.

I like to throw in a little bit of my funk influences here and there, so the mids have to have a strong presence. I need that punch to my tone.

Looking for a beefy yet, still clear sound. I'll be pushin' it through an ampeg svt 4pro, to SVT 4x10hlf along with an 18' to kick it. The lower end i like to have clear. The 18' goes as low as 35 Hz. So lows will be clear.

EDIT:
I will be putting a high C on the bass. No low B. But i would like it if i didn't have to deal with a floppy *** B string in case i decide to slap 'er on there.

I play an Ibanez SR905. B's not too floppy, and I get a great tone out of it. Fiddle with the 3 band eq and you'll get the perfect tone you want.

Never played the other too though.

well, why don't you inform me as to what you thought of it?
that's what im getting at. i would like feedback from people who have played the instruments.

how does it handle? how does it sound?

yeah i was about to do that but my interntet ****ed up so i just ended up sending that lol

so as i was going to say...

although i have not played the other two basses i do know the specs of the other Schecter and know that the Studio is a better instrument - but then again that reflects in the price

with the Studio you get a great slim, fast unfinished neck, a gorgeous body with laminates of Mahogany and Bubinga and you also get a active EMG EQ to tweek the HZ's to your liking

as for the Ibanez again i have never played that bass - or indeed any Ibanez bass for that matter but from playing numerous guitars they can be very hit or miss and even the good ones have a very generic, boring, bland sound that only a certain type of ear can appreciate

In B4 The model/make of bass has little if anything to do with the string tension

I own the Studio 5 and it's very mid-heavy. It basically has no low end, one thing I really don't like about it.

Studio 5 all the way, that baby has a beautiful tone.

SR905 would be my pick.

But let your ear decide. The Studio 5 might be a better choice for the sound you're looking for.

Pick any bass you want

if the B isn't tight enough, buy a 4 string set and a separate B of a higher gauge

I did that once but I didn't like it. The B was tight but the notes sound tinnier tonewise compared to other strings.

I was also considering buying me a 5 string, but then I decided on a 6 string; Just ordered a Schecter Custom 6 yesterday. I played a Custom 5 at the store and the tone was amazing! It is awesome for slap, but you can also dial in to play rock and metal.
My budget was a little lower than yours. I tried an Ibanez SR505 at the store, but I found the neck to be a bit top heavy. The bubinga wood (which is the neck made out of) is a lot heavier than the mahogany wood (the mahogany body). So, the neck was diving even when standing with a strap. This was a huge turnoff for me.
Like I said, I haven't tried the Studio or the Ibanez bass that you listed, but I fell in love with the Custom. lol.

The tone of the string also depends on the brand, materials used, the setup of your bass, and your preamp

also all strings are tinny when they're new, did you give it a chance to break in?

Yeah, I had it on there for awhile. But that bass does suck so I can't really go by my one situation.

I would go for the SR 905. I have played it, but I own the SR900 (4 string version of it) and I will swear by it. By far my favorite bass I've played, and you can crank any sound out of it you want.

It really depends on what kind of a sound you want tho, the Studio 5 is a great bass as well. I would not get the Custom over that, but have you looked at the Elite 5??? That one is nice as well.

Ibanez might be the best option, but at the same time, it's the most expensive of the ones you listed.

Studio 5. Played it once through an Ampeg rig at GC, it sounded awesome. I could crank anything out of that.

Could you describe the range of tones i could pump out of it?

I'd prefer it to not have to go through measures to string 'er. Around here, i'll have to order strings, and wait for them to come in. Not to mention, i'd prefer a heavier gauged string tighter for a fuller tone out of the low B. Even if it's already pretty full being a B :p.

Could somebody describe the tonal characteristics of the SR905? I know it'll be pretty bright and punchy since it's maple. But how about the p'ups? Lows?

I don't have the means to play any of these basses. I've only played the Custom 4. I loved it, but i'm wondering as to the quality when it's 5 string.

i dont see how adding a extra string would effect the quality if you knew the 4 version was solid
