Would anyone mind doing a small review if u have used any?.

Anyway thats not the point, from what ive heard, they are good for funk and metal (thats what i mostly play yay!) so thats why i im going to buy one, but i dont know which one is better and/or why, the $$ is 500 bucks more expensive, but ill get the cash so i dont mind.

I dont really know how to throw in the question, could you just say which one is better n why?

Thanks:wave:

They both sound really different. I'm not going to try and describe the tones, so go out and play them both.

Your bassline on that one's a little "Hysteria"ish don't you think?

I liked the double buck better. I thought it could get everything i wanted tonally. It was a great bass. That being said i can't remember why i liked it more than the corvette standard.

I also like the double buck better. I guess the pickups suited me better. But that's just me.

Personally I prefer the Corvette standard.

click on the track "The Way" -> The guitar recorded very very badly, and the drum are inaudible, but the bass recorded perfectly. This is the only existing recording of my old 'Wick Corvette Standard.

I adore my Corvette standard, but if it's $500 more, there must be a reason. The Corvette is an easy win, regardless.

the double buck can do the same pickup config. with more options. The little toggles are spilters. The options are more than enough for me to say the double buck is worth it. Then for the sound it is insanly thick but balanced. I love me some Double$$. Well worth it.

Now I only need around $1550 for a 5 string double $$.

I would actually save up for a 5 Thumb. Those are beautiful.

whilst on the subject of $$s, would people recommend them for use in a metal band as i recently joined one and im looking to buy a 5 string and the $$ was recommended to me by a friend who works in a music store?

I hate the tinny body. I am a bigger guy though. I am about 6'1 and 200 lbs so it looks rediculous on me not to mention its uncomfortable to me. But they do sound ace.

I like Corvettes, I just think they are overpriced.

Never played a $$.

as someone that loves the way warwicks look and sound i feel obligated to say this IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING ONE YOU SHOULD PLAY ONE FIRST because the necks are ridiculously huge. some people really like the necks and others, like me, think they are only good for clubbing baby seals. that being said if you DO play one and you do like the neck they sound amazing :)

and isnt a corvette standard single coil/passive whereas a $$ is humbucker/active?

and both of them would be perfectly acceptable for funk or metal they are warwicks thats pretty much their specialty me personally i always prefer the sound of single coil/passive pickups and would get a corvette over a $$ (except for the satanic neck) although id get a used fortress over either if you could find one (if i recall correctly that one has jazz style pickups)

The $$ has a coil tapping switch though--it's essentially a beefed-up corvette.

I've always been a fan of more options, and the $$ sounds awesome.

Well i have big hands, so the neck might notbe a huge problem
