i've been excited about this game ever since it was first announced in 2005.
i can't wait to play it.
If it runs smoothly and plays as good as they say it will, this will be a contender for GOTY.
that looks pretty badass
i wonder how easy it is to grasp the gameplay

Yeah, I was blown away by the in-game trailers, and i'm probably going to finally get myself an Xbox 360 for this.
The only thing i'm worried about, is the storyline/what actually is avaliable to do/how free roaming are the three 'stupidly huge' cities?
They seem to have focussed all the intention on the gameplay, which to be fair looks far better than any other game of this type i've seen before, but nothing else?

I know the basic storyline, but apparently it really shifts directions later in the game. Should be interesting to see what it is.
As far as free roaming goes, if you can touch it, you can climb it. I think this will be buggy as hell, but that's expected.

Yeah, hopefully it won't be a let-down in that department.
I've just had the problem with some games, that although the innovative gameplay was there, once you had got to grips with it and pushed it, the actual game became tedious to actually complete and the gameplay etc wasn't really of interest anymore.
Hopefully this won't happen, as this looks bloody awesome.

Yeah, four years working on just the gameplay and graphics should
hopefully mean things are smoothed out. The woman talking over one of the in-game trailers did say that it was just being refined. Like the guy's leg goes right through the horse at the beginning.

it sounds really interesting look at this
News has also circulated about a "sci-fi twist", due to information from developer interviews, and some effects visible in trailers of the game. It is theorized that the historical setting may be a simulation, or perhaps some sort of genetic memory, for purposes of training or other gain, being undertaken by an unknown group in the present or near future. During a trailer shown at E3, the screen would glitch and go fuzzy at times, and at one point where Altaïr is killed, the screen fades to black and then shows a head's up display with the words "computer offline" with a woman in a labcoat behind the display. Trailers shown at E3 07 reveal further evidence of this, such as a futuristic looking health bar, effects resembling readouts surrounding locked-on enemies and a rather lengthy conversation with a dying enemy surrounded by a white background. Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin's Creed will be part of a trilogy, and has also stated that one or both of the sequels may have a futuristic setting.

I've heard a lot about this game, both good and bad. The bad was true. Assassins Creed is one of the most overrated games this year by a landslide (tied with Halo 3). You're an assassin, but all the missions include you being seen by guards and escaping like some sort of rookie, no matter what you do in the missions. There's literally no way to take down an assassination target like it's meant to be in this sloppy game. I've killed 4 enemy targets without being seen once, and yet I still haven't completed the "Blade in the Crowd" achievement, which states "Kill one of your enemy targets like a true assassin".
Building climbing is fun though, but gets old fast, as do the SAME missions in all 3 cities. The concept is great, but the game-play is severely out of proportion. The game is fun for about 12 hours, and not even hardly worth playing even for the achievements.

3rd person adventure games don't really work as well on a PC. You'd need to use a controller I'd think. That's one section that has consoles beating PCs.

this game was a good idea I just feel they promised more than they gave.
It's not interactive enough you just hold 2 buttons in and run to escape people easy. Te crowd control isn't great hold in B while theres no1 around and he pushes the air.
They said there were side missions outside of the cities you could do to get better equipment but there wasn't it was just the main missions.
fighting was good ill give it that. The story is great im looking forward to the next one. Just too many flaws in this game though to make me want to play it again and again like prince of persia or splinter cell did. ubisoft dissapoint me for the first time.

Absolutely terrible and a massive letdown. The beginning takes FOREVER to get through (Storyline and Intro) before including about 75% of storylines and 25% of gameplay. The game has lame gameplay, it's very repetitive, almost impossible to play through a mission successfully without looking like a complete n00b, the storyline is whacked out to the extreme, and it just is piss poor.
Thanks a lot Ubisoft.
I promptly returned it to GameStop afterwards.

actually that's another good point I never thought of. The missions start out you can assassinate them I think until the 4th and then you get spotted or else people go mad in the case of one and he runs off. This dissappointed me because it caused me to have to go into combat and dodge guards to FIGHT the person im supposed to be ASSASSINATING.

tbqfh you should stick to first person shooters and not blame the game for how badly you suck at being stealthy

It's not even that bad after the first few missions, unless you are going for all achievement points. You only have to do 3 side mission things before each assassination, so you can mix them up a little and they are quick to do.

Almost every mission is the same. You have to do the same thing every time, from picket pocketing someone to eavesdropping, and the only time its any different is the actual assassination. And even then, the person you have to kill is surrounded by like 20 of their guards so one little slip up and you have to fend off 20 people while trying to get to one guy.

The free running is pretty cool, but the missions need more variaton. As soon as you realise there's a minimum amount of tasks to do there's no reason to do anything but the minimum.

Yah. But it like drains your life and if he hits you once you start all over...

Avoid his attacks, if you can. Even if he hits you whilst you're blocking, he'll still damage you.

Its so damn hard. You know how many times you have to hit him before it ends?

No, but it took me 7 attempts before I finally beat him.

Ok. I've already tried like 8 times and I'm over it. It's so frustrating.

You must suck because I did it on the first try.
Yea, so did I. I didn't find any parts of the game too challenging.

Well thats the only part I find challenging. Everytime I block him, he hits my sword away and kills me. A$$hole...

It's called dodging and not just blocking.

I never really mastered that. I usually just block and counter.

Go use your eagle vision in the room where you sleep after you're out of the animus at the end. You'll get 50 gamer points.

So once you've done all this, can you go back and just wonder the streets and do all the other little things like view points and find flags?
Berner
01-14-2008, 02:59 PM
Yeah that's what I've been working on lately. I've got about a third of all the flags, a third of the templars, and I am also working on finishing every investigation for each assassination.
