All the statues still standing
Bodies rushing back and fore
The ground beneath their feet now shaking
Just another day beginning.

They'll never stop to notice
statues standing still
blinking raw tears away
lost in ugly clouds of grey rain.
Their eyes as cold as night
with sand beneath their feet
in a desert which holds no mercy
for the poor, the old, the weak.

Memories present the aged
sadness weighing on them
Holding them down, like heavy rock.
They stand to stare at stones
each one naming the lonely,
As they notice a sign, a cross entwined in twisted cunning creepers.
And yet the dark wood could shine unchoked, strong and brave.
A smile would flicker upon their lips
warm breathless tears falling to the bare ground.
