Is anyone into any good noise? I'm currently getting into it through Merzbow, Masonna, and Wolf Eyes. Jesus, i got Masonna's Frequency LSD, and halfway through i had to shut it off to keep myself from going insane.

I used to really, really hate merzbow back when my brother and his friend seemed to think he was genius.

and I still hate merzbow.

I enjoy banging on trash cans with objects. Making beats kind of like you would with a bass guitar following the drums making an interesting unique beat that is very funky that you could thrash around to.

there's so much crap noise, but there are some things i've enjoyed.

stuff i've listened to and like:

YELLOW SWANS, Wolf Eyes (some of it, they have lots of crap which is bound to happen when you release 100 albums a year, morons), The Goslings, Harry Pussy, Hair Police, Towering Breaker, and a bunch of noise guys/bands from Glasgow that I probably only like because I've seen them live a lot, or know them.

I tried listening to Aqua Necromancer by Merzbow, and I think I got halfway through track 2 before I had to turn it off because my head felt numb. This was a year ago, I'm going to try that one again soon. Erector by Whitehouse got about 3 minutes, but it was painfully annoying I gave up.

I love "noise rock", and music that incorporates noise, dissonance, feedback and all that crap into a (semi)-structured context. Pure noise does little for me at the moment, except when I see it live. It's so much more interesting when you SEE how the sound is produced, and I've seen some BIZARRE noise gigs in Glasgow.

^^ Yeah, that's kinda how I am. Pure noise music only really works in a live setting for me - I can't just listen to that stuff casually.

In terms of noisy music more generally, I love The Goslings, Parts + Labor, Lightning Bolt etc

Last night I discovered that playing intense Merzbow tracks at the same time as tracks by noise-rock band Heavy Winged makes for some awesome stuff.

Sometimes I like Merzbow, but most of the time I'm not in the mood and his stuff just annoys me. It also depends on which of his stuff it is, because some of his later stuff and/or collaborations are a lot more tolerable than the older, crazier, solo Merzbow.

merzbow's collab with jamie saft is nice. generally the less harsh his stuff is the better

i dont see how some people can spend so much time listening to and getting into noise. seems like a mostly fruitless endeavor

its funny seeing wolf eyes thrash around while standing behind whatever instruments they build
