So, I went out, and bought an N64 off a mate of mine for £15 and have been playing OoT since Thursday night.
Man I miss this game, so let's look back at all the good times and maybe get a few of you playing it. I'm at the Water Temple right now, just about to go start it in fact.

I first played it years after it came out, i was astonished. I don't think i've ever been quite so impressed with a game as this.
The best thing i liked about it was the transition of gameplay from the 2D Zelda games (Link To The Past in particular) was completely intact, it was fun and addictive as hell. The 3D universe added an extra dimension to it that made it something special though, man I might fire up the ROM for this and play it again.

I just hooked up my n64 today (traded my xbox to my sister for it), and I am about to play OoT. So amazing.

One of the best games ever(I think the majority can agree on that).
It's so much easier now than it was before though.

Ahh ****, I can't even get through this damn Ice Cavern. I'm at the part where you've gotta' push the goddamn block around and pick up the 5 Rupies. And I can't be arsed to do all that.
I'm ****ing going to hate this damn Water Temple. I've got a guide for it, but it'll still take me like 3hrs++.
And yeah, I'll definitely agree, it has got to be the greatest game ever made. It's totally Revolutionary from it's time, and it's still just as challenging and really, in my mind, good as any other game today. Not much can match, or copy from this game.

The Water Temple is pretty easy if you know where all the keys are, but I still can't stand that part after you get the longshot where you have to sneak around those water vortexes. I've used up multiple fairies trying to get through that area. >_<
Great game, but gets boring after a while. Majora's Mask all the way for me. :D
Surtr
10-06-2007, 03:32 PM
Majora's Mask is much to tedious lmao. It's actually really boring going back in time and ****, it's annoying.
I'm also really really annoyed at even getting to the damn Temple. For some reason I'm doing awful in this Ice Cavern, and I've got like jack **** for Items and stuff compared to all the other Reviews I've seen.

I played this game at a friends house so i went try to buy it. i couldn't find it anywhere so i just bought majora's mask. is wasn't nearly as good, and i was little so it scared me sometimes.
But i rented ocarina of time so many times..i miss games like zelda, true adventure games, none of this linear bullshit you see today.
I don't know much about vidya games tho.

What
Majoras Mask > This
Anyways I'm stuck in the Forest Temple in my ROM and its driving me nuts but I'm finishing Phantom Hourglass first
Surtr
10-06-2007, 04:12 PM
Forest Temple is easy stuff really..If you need it, I'd say just check a Walkthrough, I did when I was stuck once, though the answer was painfully obvious.
I'm now officially in the Water Temple, and I'm not sure if I'm going out with friends or beating this damn thing.

I am so hyped to play this again just to get that nostalgic rush.

Okay I just beat Phantom Hourglass
It was fun, not bad at all, but there were no Zoras :(
EDIT: Anyways, on OoT
I remember when I first played it (how old is the game? I was like 9 when I played it or something) I was so afraid of the Kakariko Dungeon that I stopped playing the game at that point until I pulled up enough guts to try it

I've now set up a command centre with my laptop and N64 and I'm talking to my friend while we both play OoT.

I started a new file a couple weeks ago but then I realized I had Wind Waker and had never beaten it so I got sidetracked by that and RE4.
timeless game though:)

Someone's going to come in here and say it's overrated and ruin EVERYTHING.
Such an amazing game. Everything is still fun to explore years after playing it, and the music is so timeless for an N64 game.
planewreck
10-06-2007, 09:34 PM
kind of overrated but i will admit that it is timeless and fun and set a precedent and shi.

There are few things in this universe that are not overrated and Zelda OoT is one of them.
Lol I have 99 Skullutas and I'm missing one from Zora's Domain I think. It pissed me off so bad. Still haven't found it, or got the last bottle from capturing all the red poe's. Other than that, I've completed ever facet of the game.

I've always prefed Majora's Mask but it's still a great game nontheless.
I never found the Water Temple that challenging but the Spirit Temple was tough.

The Water Temple isn't really that difficult it's just annoying as hell. But even that's nothing compared to the belly of that fish where you have to carry around that stupid squid girl.
Brilliant game, I was blown away when I first played it.

yeh man when i first got windwaker it came with the special disc of this, and i thought **** windwaker, i'm playing ocarina. I beat it in a couple of days. It's so, so good. Everything is perfect. Sometimes, when i notice it's getting dark, i still hear a wolf howling and a castle drawbridge being winched in, and my eyes go glassy.

Favorite game of all time ITT. I've finished it about ten+ times. I did speed runs.
Everything about it is awesome, greatest music in a video game as well

It's not that the Water Temple is hard..It's just really really long.
I've gotten sick of the damn place and haven't played in like a day now :p

I've beaten this game so many times. It was hard when I was little. I remember I got it for my 12th birthday and I couldn't beat the Deku Tree dungeon at the beginning so I quit playing. I went back and played it a couple years ago when I pre-ordered Wind Waker and got the bonus disk with OoT and MQ and I proceeded to beat both in like three days. The only thing I have never gotten in OoT is all of the big poes. There's one near the entrance to Gerudo Valley that always disappears into a wall within a second after it appears.

I don't even remember how I did stuff as a kid. Like that random giant sword and all that... ****. I can't play video games any more. Everything was easier as a kid. I need to stop drinking. I am going to start playing this again next weekend.

don't feel bad.
That's one i've noticed.
games used to be longer, more difficult, and less linear. Back in the day, the chances of you actually finishing a game were low, and the time it took was phenominal. I never beat majora's mask, never beat super mario 64, and just beat donkey kong 64 last summer..

OoT and MM are both great games and quite different.
The atmosphere and mood to MM as never been captured or equalled (well ICO comes close). OoT's gameplay and general epic and vastness is phenomenal.

Yeah. I loved that whole cutscene after you play the song of time (?) before you turn into an adult. Felt so epic.

OH HOLY CRAP!! I just beat OoT for like the unkteen-millionth time monday. I always liked the Shadow Temple or wtf ever the best. You know, it's the one in the graveyard and all. I love the song that teleports you to the fire temple though, it's just...good...what the hell ever, leave me alone you mean people. Only beat Majora's Mask twice though, it's such a friggin' frustrating game with all the going back in time and the necessity of items you don't have to get one you need and yadda yadda. I did love the return of classic Zelda tunes though. Anybody else played the oldies too?

Most annoying boss was the 2 witch's at the end of the spirit temple. You had to use your mirror shield to deflect the fire of one onto the other.
Such a gay ending to a gay temple.
