Does anybody play Counter-Strike anymore?

I played it and loved it a long time ago when it was pretty popular, but then it stopped being fun because everybody just used a bunch of cheats so I stopped playing, but now I kinda want to start playing again. Do people still play that game? Or should I just get Half-Life and play by myself? Is Half-Life any fun? Are either of them worth the $20?

I played CS for a little bit, but everyone on there are the biggest geeks I've ever had the displeasure of having to listen to for an hour at a time, plus the cheats pissed me off, so I stopped playing and uninstalled it.

CS1.6 killed my old computer last week, although I hadn't played in ages because it kept overheating after like 5 minutes.

So, should I get Counter-Strike or Half-Life 2? I like the fact that Counter-Strike is multi-player and stuff, but I like the fact that HL has a story line and whatnot. Which do you guys prefer?

No, Steam is not supported on OSX, but you can always use bootcamp to start up in Windows and play that way.

CS is still probably the most played online FPS game for PC. Or one of them at least. It's also the most popular game played competitively.

Hah, I was actually gonna make this thread because I've had that same urge the last couple days. I've bought CS like 3 or 4 times because I consistently lose the case/key code, forcing me to buy it again...

I found a program called Crossover so I can load windows programs (like half-life and CS) on my mac. It's $50 but I'm just getting it off bit torrent. wee!

I stopped playing at LAN three or four years ago when I was in year 10. I even had a clan (or a mock clan...). It was called 'Art of Cheapness'. We'd camp and do silly things.

You could get the Orange Box which comes with HL2 and Team Fortress 2 so you get the best of both worlds!

team fortress is class based ctf. CS is like a team elimination with an objective.
